Both. Parish - he is Dr facto the board - has gone through managers like a dose of salts. They make various excuses to leave after bringing in at cost their favourite players most of which are not suited to the next man's style. We clearly have money issues as we increasingly are reliant on free transfers and loans and as others have said we continually fail to invest in strikers who can either stay fit or score goals or both. Roy seems too set in his ways. No plan B and is possibly just too nice. He doesn't show passion or excitement or anger in interviews or on the touchline. He simply goes for a world weary look. We had all that money come in from America, maybe we are saving it to build our new stadium but that will be a white elephant if we are relegated. (Or a cynic could say a lot of that money went in allowing a return for the original investors.)

Genuine question, a few people have said we approached the game tactically wrong what should we have done? Most people would have excepted Townsend and Zaha as the starters, cutting in and exposing Dunk and Duffy lack of pace. That seemed a solid game plan especially as we had torn apart a similar well organised team like Burnley on Saturday. What were the pre match alternatives? Ayew up front in a more traditional 4-3-3? hardly worked well when he has started Ayew before has it. Sorloth up front with Zaha and Townsend getting behind the full back and knocking in crosses?I can't think what else Sorloth adds to our game other than being a big lad , if we had atarted like this the outrage on here would have been immense.

I've started to wonder if Benteke's dreadful form over the last 18 months is due to Hodgson not understanding how to play him to his strengths? He's trying to do the same as what he did last season without Cabaye and RLC. It just won't work. That would be a fair comment if it wasn't for the fact Benteke missed countless chances a player like him should put away. It isn't like he didn't have one of the best xg stats (or worst depending how you look at it) last season. It showed he had a lot of chances he should have scored but didn't. That said I do agree out system doesn't suit him but I said before he signed that he isn't a Palace type of striker.

No thank you. And how much of that money do you think he chose to spend? It's widely thought that he didn't choose most if not all of the signings.

No thank you. Completely agree. I think he tried to change too much, too quickly at Fulham but is still a decent manager. Anyway it doesn't matter as Roy will be here for the forseeable barring a complete on the pitch melt down over the next 5 or 6 games

Whilst last night was abysmal and undoubtably the manager has to accept the blame for that I feel that the bigger problem ilies with the management of the club itself. It seems that the club management do not have - maybe nnever had- a long term plan for the development of the club. They either happy to just go along ‘ on a wing and a prayer’ or are incapable of doing otherwise. Hopefully I will feel a little more optamistic when the memory of last night has faded in a week or month or After we beat than at home.

No thank you. This is the problem for me. Who else is out there. I dont want some foreign manager with no experience in the premier league. Only one I can think of is Allardyce but I just dont think thats likely at all. We are not in a position to appoint a fresh new young face it has to be someone off the conveyor belt of fire fighters. Thats just depressing. Why are we here again! ps- It better not be bloody freedman! Edited by MonsterMunch (05 Dec 2018 9.54am)

This was lifted from the BBS but I think sums it up for me : We were beaten by a better run club tonight. They’ve been in premier league 1.5 years, they’ve signed smart, no vanity signings..just good scouting with enough depth and quality. We haven’t had a premier league quality striker for 18 months, we have dougie freedman, Ian moody and his friends signing players like Jach, Rakip and Sorloth , whilst they hire the FA technical director Dan Ashworth. We are just poorly run, simple as that
