No to the thread question but I can see him following Wrighty and joining the Arse. He would fit in really well there as they lack width and with a decent striker in the middle like Aubameyang would be deadly. He would need to adapt his game and cut out the overcooking but he could follow in the footsteps of Citeh with Sterling and sharp attackers than a big target man. Sterling has come on leaps and bounds since leaving Pool. I'd expect Wilf to do the same.

Booted eagle interesting you should say that. Wright himself said we should build the team around him and not encouraged him to leave (afaik). So I don't buy the whole Judas thing, not that that was necessarily your point.

I agree he would be better in a better team. Even just the presence of a player like RLC freed him up a bit and made him more dangerous.

We shouldn't sell, he's been below par this season so we wouldn't get great money. But the dependence on him is unhealthy, something's gotta give at some point.

Unless we are going to build the side around him then he should be allowed to leave for the right money in my opinion.
Building the side around him doesn't mean giving him the ball every few seconds and expecting him to perform miracles it means using him properly in the positions where he can damage the opposition best.
Right now we just want to get the ball to him and sit back and watch and when it doesn't happen - well - "he is not having a good day is he"!
One player cannot perform miracles all of the time and whilst I think he can be petulant it is a part of his make up and is his frustration coming out at the way things are going.
He genuinely loves CPFC and would/will stay if things were going better but despite the players that we have they aren't and so unless Roy can get more out of them then he will and should leave.

He’s missing the space that having a big man like Benteke occupying the opposition centre backs gives him and being able to play to his strengths.

Conversely he doesn’t help Benteke by hitting enough early crosses with quality that can be read or anticipated.

Bit the idea of oflloading him now is imbecilic irrespective of his inevitable departure at the end of the season.

Ideally, if we had an average team around him, he'd keep up in the top half of the table every year. So we should keep him.

But since our squad is constantly crap, and we're in a relegation battle every single year, I can understand the argument that we could sell him to get 2-3 other competent players.

The problem with that logic is every player we buy has been a failure. So if we sell him, we'll lose our best player, and likely pick up 3 more of Sorloth/Ayew types.

If I remember correctly, we used the money we got from selling Wright to buy Marco Gabbiadini. I'd expect a similar debacle if we sold Wilf.

We have an average finishing place of 12th since being promoted. Most people seem to want us to finish in the top 10 each season and aside from 2015/16 (when we finished 15th) we have been almost there every year since promotion.

Our first-team is not crap as shown by our finishing places, but we do need to replace some of the second string with players that can change games from the bench. We are not on a level with at least 9 teams, possibly 10, but aside from Leicester whether we like it or not they are all much bigger clubs (Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, West Ham) and Leicester are still dining off their freakish PL win. On that basis to finish around mid-table is really where we should be and where we have been.

Bringing it back to Zaha, he has not been the same since all the media crap about him complaining. It seems he is always going to struggle with that side of his game and we as fans need to understand that and support him. Whether its an ongoing injuy or its psycological he just doesn't seem to look like he's enjoying it at the moment. Hopefully he'll come back from his suspension with a smile on his face and a spring in his step.
