I wouldn't trust Muggy Freedman with £50 and my Tesco's shopping list clearing stating what I need!

I'm happy for any player to leave us on high...provided that we have his replacement already in the squad. There's no point selling Wilf for say £80m and then get held to ransom for a below par replacement. Leicester got it right by signing Demari Gray a season before then offloading Mahrez

Need to go back to the winning formation of Wilf and Andros up front. Best football I've seen in a long time ....throw in Max for JA....simps!
If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong |

Obviously everyone wants to keep zaha. The OP said and I agree free up some funds. Palace can’t afford a decent striker or decent attacking midfielder, we would have to cash in on zaha to create funds. Otherwise all we buy is tosh like Benteke, Ayew, sorloth and Wickham. The jist of the post as I read it was to take a different approach and not rely on one man. Which we do and have done for several years and it’s not doing great. We scrape by every season. Zaha will go this season or end of so why not do it on our terms and be ready for it, rather than end of season or worse January and be left with the palace hierarchy to do transfer business in a panic like we always do and buy the left overs that no other team wants. Exceptions to mila, pva and Meyer of recent years. Edited by Pinkfluff1981 (08 Oct 2018 8.33pm)

The January market place is rarely a good one to spring class players. Other clubs would see us coming and pull our pants down. There. A longer form answer but still the same conclusion.

My view is that the remainder of the midfield and attack has been so chronically short of quality in the final third that teams really just have to stop Wilf and Wilf only.

Thing is, way things are going i can see Zaha going in the summer. The hierarchy at palace just isn't changing it's apparent ethos of 'gambling that there will be 3 worse teams than palace and then panic buy if we need too'. Roy wanted up to 7 faces in January... who did we get, 3 blokes, one finished his loan spell with not so much a performance, one has been shipped out on loan stating he isn't ready and the other hasn't performed in any capacity in 10 months, wether or not t's his fault. This summer, we had players go, planned or not. Cabaye was replaced in theory with Meyer, who ultimately needs time to grow into that role. So what about players like Sako, RLC, TFM have they been like for like replaced or upgraded? So far, no. Our striker last season under performed, so did we get a replacement as plan b or competition - no. Has he returned to scoring ways, no. Ok, has the club come out with a game plan, a style they want to achieve and have a squad that reflects that? not really... We are still a frankenstein team with players from Holloway, Pulis, Warnock, Pardew, SA, FDB. Managers that all have very different styles. The breaks on a new stand should be pumped. The manager needs to be backed and let his squad be seen, utilized and respected. Get some stability in that. So, let's say last summer we shipped out Bentekke for 20 mil. Zaha for 45 mil and let's say we still got in Meyer, we spent the loan fee and got RLC - i heard it was 10 million. Let's also say we bought two strikers, each at around 20 mil (when all factors taken in). Sure, it be a new look palace, but would we be where we are now? No recognized striker scoring? Players played put of position? It's all very well having a merc in the garage, but if you're only driving it to Lidle and back once a week, defeats the purpose. Summer just gone should have been a major over haul for the good of the club as the rot is just continuing.
