I first got to like Oliver due to him sending off a Utd player at OT. But 7 pens out of 9 for Liverpool.!!! So we now know which type of Red he is!
Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time! |

For all the talk that we'd probably win an appeal, I think the club have made the right call by not appealing. Even if we had won, I feel like Roy was never planning on playing AWB every single week. He's still young, and even if he plays well I feel we're better suited rotating him and Ward 70/30 or so to help AWB with his stamina over the course of the season. So assuming the coming match may have been a rest match for him anyways, we had significantly more to lose by attempting an appeal and losing than we had to gain by appealing and winning. *edit* I've also remembered that Ward resigned to a new contract in the summer, and I feel like it's bad form to resign a veteran of the club just to have them ride the bench, especially when they could be starting elsewhere. Zoomed in and slowed down....Salah begins to look like he was shot from a grassy knoll. It's time for the JFK conspiracy crew to get to work.

Compare that to PvA who is an established premier league full back - he almost never has to do this. Could argue it cost him the Red today. Lot of improvements to be made as he should not be needing to make this many tackles. A good few years ago there was a player called Des Walker, who built his game around last ditch challenges, he was very good at it. Well in my mind Wan Bisakka is a carbon copy of him and gets that telescopic leg in to whisk that ball away right at the last second. His timing is very good and I dont blame him for clipping Salah, although Salah had lost control of the ball, so it should have only been a yellow.

Yes, and with reference to the song the Forest fans used to sing...DID we ever beat him?

Walker was great but that was in the days that you could beat the forward for pace and slide the ball back to the keeper. I think the keeper not being able to pick up a back pass would have taken a lot from Walkers game in today’s football.

It's important to remember this kid has played less than 10 professional games and looked good. At any level that is remarkable, let alone facing some of the best players in the world. Remember, Clyne looked immense but had years in the championship when he stepped up. Wan-Bissaka loves a late challenge. He clearly has good timing. However, with time his positional awareness will get better and you'll see late challenges less and less, although he'll still have it in his locker. Ultimately, this kid is ridiculously good at such a young age. I wonder if we have any other gems waiting to break through. My only concern is that if it wasn't for the worst injury list in loving memory, Wan-Bissaka would still be with under 23s now. We've got to just give some a go. With Benteke struggling maybe Daly is getting closer. Edited by laddo (24 Aug 2018 9.22am)

Edited by laddo (24 Aug 2018 9.22am) Experience hasn't prevented both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly from being last-ditch tacklers - that said sometimes such action is necessary due to the performances of players around you. Wan-Bissaka has gargantuan potential but he is only a mere stripling learning his trade and as with all such players there will be dips in performances and he will have to show real character when he is not in the sparkiest of form. But he has the talent to bounce back admirably from adversity. One hopes that supporters will not get on his back if/when he has less impressive games.

Did anyone notice that Mane was on the pitch, until Aaron Wan - Bisakka was sent off and the second at nearly 90 minutes?
