In all seriousness it's like so many non western countries....it needs a culture of meritocracy and an intolerance for corruption....A common sense attitude towards business and the rule of law.

Basically it needs not to be South America.....which is only half a joke as I do think there are people there who would do it.

There's just not enough of them with the ability to affect change.

IMO Gordon and Alastair rewarded the banks by bailing them out in 2008, for all the harm they visited on others.

Hard I know, but we would be in a better place now.

Ordinarily I would defend a politician in this situation, rather like when our Prime Minster goes on holiday some idiot newspaper condemns them as "the country is in crisis". In other words no politician is allowed to go on holiday ever.

However in this case with his people starving I think we could say this is a major error in judgement.

It's not even a holiday, it's a stop over on official business (begging China for a loan).

It's like a round trip of dictatorships, China to Turkey and back to Venezuela.

The chef is a prick too. Even before this incident I should add.

Venezuela voted for Socialism when it voted in Chavez.

Socialism is what it got.....He orientated the country to be anti western and heavily bet the bank on oil.

The only people in Venezuela that I have sympathy for are those who never voted for these dictators in the first place.....and the innocents like youngsters who have to suffer for the stupidity of their elders.

Due to being, as with many 'Socialist' countries, continually shafted by the (Dollar) West?
