If we are to get anything from this game, we need to do what Swansea did last year, but take a leaf out of the scousers book and rather than fill the road with traffic, steal their wheels and put them on bricks.

Is this the game to play Sorloth? It might be counter-productive but I don't think we can keep saying give Benteke the game in case he scores and it gives him confidence. We've been saying that for a year now. If Sorloth runs himself into the ground he won't be expected to score and could well be more of a nuisance than a static Benteke. Giving him a chance to prove himself can't be that bad an idea. If we go with the thinking that our goals in this game won't come from our Strikers then I think he's the one to go for in the hope he comes good.

Despite his lack of goals Benteke has worked really hard in recent games, his form has clearly improved and he may be on an upward trajectory plus he seems to be playing with a smile again, Plus it's his former team he's up against, he'll only love to score against them.

There's very little that's certain in football, but one thing that is guaranteed is that Mane will score against us...again. Hopefully we'll be able to outscore them at the other end. Of course , mane must be into double figures against us by now? We need to start a bit better than vs Fulham or were screwed. Hopefully Roy has a plan for Liverpool , he’s very clever tactically isn’t he.

True, can't argue with this. He was unlucky not to score a header and Wilf was really wasteful to not give Benteke an assist. I do think horses for courses though. I doubt we'll go 2 up top against Liverpool and this is where Benteke gets frustrated. He battles away and wins a couple of headers but because they don't go to anyone (because the rest of the team are defending, he starts sulking). I can imagine us putting 10 behind the ball and one striker up front so in that situation maybe an enthusiastic Sorloth running around happily annoying defenders without particularly getting much joy will be more effective. I'm basing this off a few of his games last season when he was shunted out to the wing. He seemed to have a good attitude for it and didn't mind being asked to do a job. Benteke comes across frustrated in these situations.

Seems I’m in the minority in thinking we might just get spanked. I hope not but my usual optimism has deserted me.

Just before Sakho lunged in on Shurrle I was fuming at Benteke - inexplicably failed to keep a loose ball in play. Zaha could have got it but decided to let Benteke pick it up and wait for the pass. Instead of having a very promising break we were scrambling and actually I eckon that led straight to their attack.

He could potentially be Glenn Murray but equally at this stage Frazer Campbell. Both work really hard but can is also a very good Striker. Also, fingers crossed I don't double post this time. I am not pressing the 'post' button more than once but I'm glitching all day for some reason. So disclaimer in case it happens again.

I like the look of him...just wish he had a rocket up his arse tbh. He's ability to hold the ball and bring others into play is superior to anything we saw from CB last season, he just needs to sprint a fair bit more to win more people over. having said that since the Toulouse game Benteke has upped his game.

Would be typical of Liverpool to lose this game. Loving the fact that as a club we’ll meet them head on and could easily get something out of it. Big ask all 3 they are a goals machine, but as mentioned earlier were are a very tidy unit at the back, and going forward, we’re looking sharp in all areas. No dull affair this fixture, I’m confident we could see them off , but a point if that’s how it shapes up, so be it.
