Interesting to see how Ben Stokes will be replaced for the next match at Lords. Moeen Ali will probably replace Rashid to beef up the batting and perhaps Sam Curran has proved himself enough as an all rounder to allow us to bring in a bowler. As a side line I like the changes made to the Sky commentary team as Ian Ward is worthy of his place as is Kumar Sangakarra who offers excellent insights into the game but I will continue to watch Sky's coverage as long as Sky continue to use the very lovely Isa Guha as part of their commentary team. Woakes for Stokes and Pope for Malan I believe. I wouldn't drop Rashid. If anything it might be Woakes missing out if England want both spin options. Ian Ward has been on Sky for donkeys! Almost everyone they get into their commentary/presenting team works, be they the old lot of Athers, Nasser, Holding, Gower, Botham, Bumble etc or the likes of Sangakarra, Ponting, Smith, Singh etc. I loved it when Harbhajan put the mockers on India in the test just gone by saying "I can't see England getting a wicket", with Athers telling him precisely what he'd just done and it duly unfolding exactly that way within minutes.

I like the inclusion of Pope over Malan. Malan never averaged high enough in county cricket for my liking. Might still be more suited to overseas pitches though as Smith astutely mentioned. Porter is an interesting inclusion but he's a Fraser type figure without real pace. I want to see Olly Stone.....real pace.....we have a few youngsters coming through with pace now. I have no idea why we haven't stuck with Bess over Rashid and Ali who are better bets at the shorter game. We need to invest in the test future. Edited by Stirlingsays (06 Aug 2018 3.45pm)

He can hold a bat as well, and as a SLA would be better suited than Bess to bowl against India's right handers. I'd like to see Amar Viridi get taken to SL, however his batting isn't up to much so wouldn't pick him in England yet for test cricket.

Bess probably needs to move.
