When a country lets in different cultures, those people will bring with them good aspects and bad of their culture. When they come over, it's understandable that they will want to keep certain parts of their culture - i appreciate that. But, when they disrespect the law of the land they are utilizing, not joining communitites and assimilating, it's an invasion and it dilutes the communities and culture already established - it's simple. Ofcourse, not every immigrant will do that, but for every 100 good, there will be 1 bad. So when you have 1% of say 1 million.. that's a lot of little s***s which, let's be honest, don't deserve their status in the country as they bring nothing to it. However, the hypocrisy is astounding - you go over to the middle east, you have to be respectful and follow their ways, which i understand and follow, to an extent and they disregard the western way and its values and people applaud that and say it's their heritage and right to do so, yet when a western country says the same, it's xenophobic. I am a firm believer you can be whatever skin colour, creed, religion... just be a good person and respect the values of the nation you call home. I hate going over to spain and seeing the ex pats... i want to see spanish culture - i would hate for it to be changed, the same for germany and octoberfest. The same for turkey - it has beautiful markets and villages, same for pakistan.. the world is different and we should embrace that - but trying to promote this 'everyone can live happily ever after' just isn't true as humans in their very primal, basic animal instinct is to be wary of someone that doesn't look like them - its fight or flight, people like what they like and this is evident all over the world so when someone acts out of their cultural norms in a negative way, you have division. Just to be clear. As individuals we are judged by our individual behaviour and not the judgements that may be made on any of the various groups we may belong to. There is a macro level, but each of us deserves to be judged on the micro. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Jul 2018 4.27am)

Edited by Vaibow (24 Jul 2018 1.28am) not going to disagree with anything here but the main crux of my argument is the fact that, as you pointed out it is usually a few bad apples whereas some people like to take this and twist it to look as though foreigners and immigration is bad. It's usually the right wing media (and dodgy fake news stories allegedly coming from Moscow's direction). What disappoints me is how so many people aren't better than that and swallow this nonsense

The ex pats living in Spain are probably referred to as immigrants by the Spanish. As a matter of interest have you ever posted anything on this site that is positive about Britain or are you just here to whinge non stop

It's just a figure of speech by British people. You are not a Brit, so you wouldn't know that. Are you now saying the term is not politically correct? Expats are people who choose to live abroad for lifestyle reasons, often for a limited period of time. Edited by Penge Eagle (24 Jul 2018 9.54am)

The race issue aside: why did 3 blokes from London go to the Midlands to chuck acid on a toddler? I mean, huh? (PS I have a 3 year old son so you can guess my feelings on this one.)
