Have you not seen the league tables of spending and us right up there? And us outspending others for a few years? Obviously not.

Parish is being paid a very generous and a possibly over inflated salary but that isn’t pocketing vast sums, which I’d rate at millions, not hundreds of thousands.

If you own or a partner in a Company, whatever salary you give yourself, you are just paying yourself with your own money

Bolasie! Best bit of business since the Clinton Morrison/Andy Johnson deal (which I still find amazing that turned out to be the deal it did, especially buying CM back for half the price a couple of years later... slightly off subject)

Agreed, fantastic signing by Freedman from Bristol City for small change at the time but equally significant was the acquisition of Murray on a free, whose goal scoring exploits secured our place in the playoffs and the rest is history.

I'm pleased to see this thread as in common with all CPFC employees there has to be transparency, accountability and a performance measure. The Director's salary is most probably 300k+ pa and while Roy and SP give account to the fans/media on a regular basis, this is not the case with DF. Has anyone seen or heard a statement from him regarding our transfer aspirations?? I have no doubt he regularly appears before and gives account to the Board but for someone in such an influential and important position, surely there must be some form of public-facing accountability?

DF spoke to fans at, I think it was, the AGM of the Supporters Trust. He outlined the scouting process: scouts identify someone they think might be of interest; DF takes a look at them; if DF thinks they are interesting he and Roy then watch the player together. Roy will, of course, also identify people he has an interest in.

DF also made it quite clear that the squad was 'unbalanced' and that this couldn't be resolved overnight as you have to ship people out and they may or may not want to go and there may or may not be a buyer. He implied (maybe even said) that this would take several windows.

DF is accountable to his employers, the Board, not to fans and there is no particular reason why he should be all over social media every day, personally I'm glad he isn't.

I never judge a window until it has closed. January was disappointing. I live in the hope that this one will be better. We will see once the dust has settled.

Agree that Parish is overall a great success for Palace, not sure you could call his salary a pittance though.

To be fair, he took no salary for the first 6 years - I think it was when the American investment came in they started paying him.

I hope DF is working behind the scenes to get what we need & keeps everything under the radar until deals are done, avoiding the SSN transfer circus.

I’m not sure but I think he took a salary much sooner than that. He deserves to really although it’s getting larger, but that’s a matter for the shareholders.

Freedmans no different than all the other DOF they dont tell the world who they are looking at,
most news comes from agents touting there cash cows about,
we may not spend big this window but may have more money for the Jan window,

as fans we look at who we like to have, sadly its who we can afford that dictates who we buy.

I'm beginning to think the reality of this transfer window, as it was in January might be more to do with realigning the squad. We have had several windows of purely purchasing players with very little going out to generate space in the squad, release salaries and make a bit of money. Bolasie is the only one I can think of who we have got a good fee for in years. Constantly buying in is not sustainable until we can offload some it will bottleneck our ability to purchase. I'm thinking we will only bring in a couple of loan players (Hopefully one being RLC).

Last season we had horrific injuries during the season our current squad is good enough for a lower mid table finish. A risk but one we may have to take and accept.

A quick look shows his first salary was in the 15/16 year @ £692k. That jumped to £2,150,00 in the following year - both amounts paid to a single director so must be SP.

Last figure has the intriguing note that it was reinvested in the club along with other monies from him which begs the question why take it & pay tax/NI in the first place.

What is scary looking at a 5 year picture is our overall wages going from £18.75m to £111.8m.

you don't have to overdo the moderator role - the stats just provided were pertinent, and I can cross-refer to the Parrish pages thanks, keep a check on the tit-for-tat abuse, but we don't need content policing thanks.

How is he overdoing the mod role by asking people to keep to the topic?

We often have dozens of threads on the same subject and people post stuff nothing to do with the title

Just because you like cross referring others might not
