This has surely got to be the longest post in HOL history??

With all due respect it's almost like Transfer Talk is just turning in Matteo's own personal blog. I have a look on here everyday for some sort of concrete evidence we might sign someone (even if it's an article from some two bob website) which I thought transfer talk was all about.

Instead I have to endure suggestion after suggestion from someone who clearly looks at himself as some sort of Football encyclopedia Britannica....

Oi!! I already did that line (first comment after the OP)

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Whilst this post is ridiculously long and I agree that the transfer values are miles off (especially considering any English club will pay a "PL tax" as everyone else knows we have money), there's no need to insult someone who's trying to spark conversation.

Unlike another poster on this forum.

I think putting made up transfer values is irrelevant as the sale price of a player isn't really our issue, it's the wages a player will demand that is.

As a club we can only increase our wages by £135k a week per annum. We've managed to trim probably £200k a week so far but I would assume most contracts have an automatic annual increase and if we give certain players a pay rise, i.e. Wilf, realistically we can only afford 1 or 2 players irrespective of how much the transfer fee is.

I don’t think you are correct about contracts having an annual increase built in, that would be financially foolish. Most now have a relegation clause reducing wages.

I meant as in the same way you have promotion and relegation pay rise/decrease clauses, I would have thought - and it is just a guess - that some players would have if we stay in the division then you will go from say 20k to 25k per week, especially with the youngsters like AWB. Again, it's just a guess.

I'm going through the OP for errors of grammar and punctuation - I'm halfway through and still haven't found any - I should be finished by Monday at the earliest, I was looking forward to my weekend but this is more important.

Benteke and Connor Wickham have salaries of 200k a week combined. With RLC, Cabaye, Puncheon, Souare, Mutch, TFM, Delaney, Rakip, there has to be at least a 500k a week economy for next year's players. You can get 9 players on 50k a week with that money.

I don't think Wickham is on anywhere near £100k a week and if he is I can't see anyone buying him and paying those wages.

Puncheon, Souare & Mutch are still at the club. (we're paying most of Mutch's wages from what I've heard)
We will get 2 more loan players in which will probably be on equal loan fee and wages as both RLC and TFM. We also don't know how much the parent clubs contributed to RLC and TFM's loan wages.

The only players we've really shifted are (and I'm guessing the wages here really):
Cabaye £80k pw?
Delaney £20k?
Lee £25k?
Sako £60k?
Cavalieri £10k?
Rakip £10k?
RLC £40k?
TFM £30k?
Ward reduction? £5-10k?

We've added Guiata on a free so assume he's on decent wages, maybe £60k.

So in essence we've possibly reduced the wage bill by £215k plus have another £135k to add, so £340k.

We want to tie our better players to new contracts, if Wilf get's a new contract at £35k a week more all of a sudden we aren't left with much money to get in players.

This is all guess work on my part but a quick google shows that your first suggestion is on 60K euros a week at Monaco. Plus not only is it £50k a week wages but the bonus payments etc count too. i.e. unused substitute fee, goal bonus, win bonus....

I'm not knocking your list, I am just saying people expect us to make a ridiculous amount of signings without realising we are completely hamstrung by FFP and we don't have the revenue coming in outside of TV money to help pay for what we want.

We have spent decent sums the last few windows, we have some hit and miss signings, some on big wages who don't reflect their ability and that's our problem.

Disclaimer - I'm really guessing at a lot of these figures and this is based on my limited knowledge of FFP

This is a list of most of our players salaries. It doesn't include sako or cabaye

[Link]

From memory Losing cabaye was about 86K and Sako 55K and Lee £25k so will have been about £160 k per week

[Link]

This shows TFM £20 k and RLC £60K.

So we have a wage reduction of around £240K from players left. Ward Hennessey and Kelly have re-signed and despite reports to contrary I can't see them taking a reduction (none are on high EPL wages) so I suspect there wages will have increased slightly and Guita has joined. So I suspect reduction in wage cost will be 180-190 pw
