Nobody else thought RLC had an excellent 2nd half then ? If not for Rashfords greed, RLC would likely have a goal and us a draw.

As to the idea of not facing Brazil, Colombia are not what they were 4 years ago for sure, but should we get through them we still have the winners of Sweden/Switzerland, both of who have looked very good.

Personally i would have taken Japan and then Brazil, but we are easily giving up on Mexico who have an excellent record against Brazil.

If we lose to Columbia now, we are going to look very silly. It's done now so time to get behind the team and I'm hoping this plan works... c'mon England

You’ve just watched a reserve game mate.

None of those outfield players apart from stones will start v Columbia. Columbia have a 4 day break and we’ll have a 9 day break.

Except Stones “took a knock” yesterday. A touch ironic, perhaps.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

No we don’t, we’re playing on Tuesday which is 5 day break.

It was a win-win situation for us. Players now rested and hopeful fit and sharp for Colombia. From what I’ve seen, Colombia looks very poor. Rodriguez also came off after 30 mins vs Senegal so is pressunably injured/short of match fitness.

It’s a massive game which we should really win, you’d then fancy our chances against both Sweden/Switzerland. Anything could happen once if we reach the semi’s

God that was awful last night after the earlier games japs vs the poles, denmark france, wife at to take the sharp knives away from me.
On a serous note felt we made to many changes should have dropped 3 then subbed 3,keep winning, there is no team we cant beat in the last 16,there is no easy root to the final,
We are now in the knock out stages which means every game is a banana skin. Colombia wont worry who they play, they already played Brazil and co to qualify, just hope we dont lose what we had in the first 2 games, because of looking for the so called easy root

Here we go again....

No game on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday to me is a four day break, but I appreciate the ‘modern maths’ may lead others to conclude differently.

Rest the players? We have not played football since half time in the Panama game ... 135 minutes of tappity tap.

Truly, a farcical situation. Should have scored the goals against Belgium and then sent on our stooges to play out the game.

Whenever we’ve gone further in the tournament we’ve run out of puff. Even Gary Neville confirmed it last night.

I’m glad we’re giving it a go by avoiding Brazil rather than glory in beating 2 sh1t group teams, a reserve Belgium for some meaningless glory in winning the group and then a really dodgy Japan as well before 30% possession v Brazil and the flight home having not really done much.

We have a shaky back line v a dangerous front 3 for Panama but about 8 days rest and 4 full fitness days for full preparation. Columbia don’t.

While having no sympathy for my Southern neighbors and hoping England will do well I found the whole thing yesterday a prime example of misplaced arrogance. If you do not want win the group, simply because you THINK the schedule will be more kind it is a massive insult to your next opponents. It is not going to take much to motivate the Columbia players and England has to hope karma does not come back to bite them in the bum.

What would you think, if Kane got injured in a nothing game. Most of the players have been playing 2 games a week for their clubs, squad rotation was a sensible move.

Everyone over here knows Columbia is harder than Japan but Sweden/Switzerland are easier than Brazil. Even the pundits have made that fact abundantly clear.

If Palace had the choice of Man City or Fulham in an FA Cup QF (or semi if you want the scenario on neutral ground) but had to face a more difficult team in the match before then I’m sure they’d take Fulham and the more difficult game the round before.

One will never win anything with calculations, if sport is not about winning games anymore it has lost it sense.
Now Sweden or Switzerland indeed may be easier then Brazil, who frankly have not impressed me much yet, but that is only one round.
Apart from decency and pride there is surely also a thing called momentum. Guess it makes a difference not being a real fan but can't see the point.

And what about the huge amount of extra pressure there is now on the team v Columbia? They may be generally experienced and not care much but it could backfire I think.
