Just signed 3 yr contract. Absolutely delighted. Solid trustworthy pro who loves the club.

Good back up for Bissaka so I'm happy he's signed a new contract.

And you know that? How? Please share.

If you want to go down that road. How do you know anything?

It has been widely reported correctly or incorrectly and his signing for Fiorentina just happens to be announced on the same day we announce Ward's new contract.

A coincidence? You decide for yourself. You will never know the truth for sure, like most football news.

Sorry Hrolf, I am struggling to understand what you are saying. Are you saying that Fiorentina waited until the day Ward signed a new contract to agree a deal to sign Lafont to placate posters on holmesdale.net?

You'd think that after 5 years in the premier league the negativity would have died down

Or it’s the first working day after most contracts are dated - something that can impact on the cost of a deal even if it’s a player (ironically) waiting for 1st July to pass so he gets the ‘loyalty bonus’ written into his contract.

‘Widely reported’ isn’t true though, is it. Every report I’ve seen simply links to an earlier one which links to an earlier one and then, guess what, it links to an earlier one. Most of these inter web rumours start in one place & simply get regurgitated by all and sundry - a scroll through similar headlines on, say, newsnow, will demonstrate this.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

What is conspiratorial about balancing out not signing targets by announcing new contracts? It's exactly what happens in PR all the time.

The club has chosen to go with mediocrity, 3 years contract to a mediocre player probably means the best position the club will obtain in the next 3 years it between 10th and 12th, like with Ward.

It the club really wanted to evolve and challenge for higher places they should have avoided extending contracts to players who have not been above average.

Yes, Ward has been a starter this season and has been "decent", but decent doesn't mean they should get new contracts. There were a lot of cheap right back options who could have taken the club a step further than Ward.

Do you know how much his deal is worth?

Rumor was the new deal was on 50% wage, no idea if this is true. But if it is then surely it’s good business from the club and likely we wouldn’t found someone reliable for much less?

Begars belief why Ward gets so much bad vibes from so many fans.

Only from 'fans' who talk through their arses.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
