I don't know why anyone pays any attention to these stories. The report has been written by a think tank (aka t***s) who have no power or influence on anyone. It would hurt anyone closer to 26 more financially than it would a current pensioner too. They'd miss out on the cash, suffer the same consequences in later life as the current pensioners and have to wait many years later to even start receiving their pension. File under "s*** report by irrelevant group".

I know that if these predictions on increasing automation are to be realised to what they suggest....something will have to happen. We need our brightest people making these decisions....I'm not sure that's what we have in the political realm.

Even for the pensioners, the down payment and mortgage payments on their first house/flat were still large pro rata to their income - and you only got 1 and a half times principal salary. Far more generous welfare? How? All that was available for most of my working life was a very basic level of sick pay, and an existence level of unemployment benefit for those that needed it. Final salary pensions were only ever paid to those in Local Authority, Civil Service or large companies. The vast majority of pensioners from the so-called baby boomers don't have this luxury. Student grants again were only for the few that went to university - most went out to work as soon as they left school. So, to prod your No1 on the list, I quite agree...... let them live with their parents (even when they are married), regard a night out a month as a luxury treat (and that no more than a cinema or down the pub), 'make do and mend' with their clothes and mobiles, go without holidays and cars, and then they might get to the same point as their parents, who did do all these things! In a world filled with unfounded political views, this is without doubt the most ridiculous that I commonly hear/read. If you think a bit of hard work and saving is all it takes to solve the issue, you are entirely clueless about the reality of what people are facing.

Unfair singling out the Tories. There isn't a party that doesn't chase the grey vote. Most voters come in the 54+ bracket. And their primary concerns at present are their pensions, their healthcare and all those bl00dy immigrants making them wait at the GP and post office. Not, sadly, the future of their own children. Thus, policy, public resources and media coverage are heavily skewed to those issues. [There, didn't mention Brexit once] I think good people are concerned for their children. I was a teacher and I have to say that a significant amount of parents should be proud of their kids. Good people raising good kids. The problem is that there is another group who aren't so good.....there's a hell of a lot of people who rely on the state to solve problems that they should sort out themselves or at least partially sort out and that essentially worsens everything. Same as it ever was.......it's just that thanks to the baby boomers and our useless politicians that second lot are larger. Essentially this country went to pot after the war. Thank you - I need no longer exercise any such prudence myself and shall thus now live my life in glorious profligacy safe in the knowledge that it will be of no detriment to anyone.

Good luck to them but it is 2 people already together (is it that easy getting together with someone living at your parents’?), in a very cheap area of the country. They’ve done it how lots of people did it post-war but it’ll take a lot longer for most.

I don't really care for this guys political persuasion. Make everyone equal Although pensioners are now generally net takers of their contributions to the social sack of dosh. I blame the whole stay healthy and live to a 100 mantra. We all got it coming for sure.
