Why don't you go to an actual country with real imprisonment problems like China or Russian, any number of countries not using the European legal processes and try tearing them down. You won't last long. But at least you'll have made some use of your life. Instead of thinking that one of the few examples of human history where genuine civilisations has taken root requires tearing down. In many of those awful examples around the world it's socialism or Marxism that has destroyed any chance of advancement for peoples. It's the communists who build walls to keep people in. No western country ever needed to do that. In my view we need to deport the fifth columnists along with the illegals. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Apr 2018 6.11pm) Interesting though left and right issues have been in the past, China Russia and no doubt Byzantium God Harry and St.George, the thread is on the Yarl's Wood Centre and we should debate that.

Threads aren't set in stone. Unless the OP stipulates that they want a thread to stick strictly to the title then it's for no one else to set rules, even mods are on uneven ground taking this line in my view. This site contains many golden threads that went all around the houses. Edited by Stirlingsays (24 Apr 2018 6.46pm)

'flagrantly disregard the laws of this country without redress' That is why we have courts, these people have not been convicted of a criminal offence and should not be imprisoned without trial. Tear it all down. Do you actually know why the detainees are in there? Some have been convicted of criminal offences and are awaiting removal (or should they just be released?) People that overstay their leave to remain or work illegally, have disregarded the laws of the land, whether you agree with Immigration Laws or not.

Empty Yarl's Wood of prisoners. Re-locate Amber Rudd her officials and Home Office there. Lock it up and throw the key away. Problem sorted..... Even better if Mrs May was interned in one of her hell-holes. What is wrong with you?

Amelia Gentleman has written very well on this subject, and this article has some clearer studying on the conditions there: [Link] We speak frequently on this site about about people who have no voice, but we are talking about women who have been subject to the most unimaginable terror and torture here and in their home countries, and we don't offer them anything above the most basic healthcare, legal protection or psychological help. They are absolutely silenced from our society. What's more, and I know the article is from 3 years ago, but the innmates seem to overwhelmingly feel physical and sexual intimidation from the guards. I appreciate the comments suggesting otherwise, but this is the most comprehensive surveying and analysis done that I can find on the situation and until better evidence is available, we have to take the side of the victims, and ask what we as a society can do to better offer them protection while they reside on our territory.
If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4 |

In the article Serco denies the allegations and the Home Office says the site has had a good review. I am sorry but I do not agree with your statement that we have to take the side of the victims. This is the nonsense that has landed the police in hot water and blighted the lives of many innocent people falsely accused. What we must do is listen to the complaints with an open mind and thoroughly investigate and if true act. The threshold for evidence does not have to rise to that required for a criminal prosecution as this would be an internal matter to start with.
