White phosphorus is not considered a 'chemical weapon' under the Chemical Weapons Convention. Also, though it shouldn't have to be stated 'depleted uranium' is not a chemical weapon but a limited nuclear one.

Talk about inverted logic. If you make a claim (though you only supported it), it is for the person making the claim to provide the evidence for it. Not the person stating that it's untrue. I have simply called out this claim. Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Apr 2018 6.59pm) Pathetic

A refreshing bit of perspective - I have countless friends who are all convinced the world has gone to total s***, and taking the news/politics section on this website as an example, it's easy to see why people think this way. Good to see it only took a couple of hours for this thread to descend into a slanging match, along with all the others. Less than that actually. Nice to see someone engaging with the thread topic itself, which is kind of the point, rather than resorting to personal atttack and dragging everyone off piste. Still waiting for the third member to turn up...

I think we should refer to the thread title. IMO the World is more horrific than we think and will end soon.

Still waiting for the third member to turn up... A claim is made, it is countered. Threads aren't required to only stick to the title point. People make statements and hence a thread evolves. As for personal attacks, people can be criticised for their views. You are also criticizing just indirectly. In fact you have made this same point now twice in your last two posts. Some might consider that baiting.

Still struggling to understand the point you were trying to make about relatives fighting in WW2, to be honest. I hope it's one that's on the right side of the site policy on sniping, etc. Another link from the same search is here: [Link] Neither of us are about to change position on the US and its perceived bloodless (or chemical-less) hands. There's also plenty of non-Western media content about the White Helmets, reports of chemical use in Syria and the uncanny way in which these reports occur when Assad is closing in on an endgame with a particular "rebel" group. The truth is out there, but I doubt it's as clear-cut as ANY media outlet with any hint of state or corporate sponsorship would have us believe.

You made an untrue claim that the US had used chemical weapons in its recent wars. It's a false claim. The weapon you made a claim for is not listed as a chemical weapon. The fact that both the weapons you list are near the line is a better point. However, accuracy is important. You are free to believe what you want in the west. As the number of 'out there' viewpoints can attest to. However, when certain points as criticisms are made in the public space I seek accepted evidence for those points. 'The truth is out there'. There are facts and there are opinions. I can't believe we get yet another poster moaning about 'sniping' when their contentions are contested. Ever since Jamie wrote that we have had nothing but victim cards.

As you say, accuracy is important. Your words were: The US enabled you to grow up in peace. I definitely know who the real idiots are. My grandfather actually fought in a real war where the man in the street had to fight. Generations since have grown soft in the head. Apologies to the OP for the derailment. Time to do something more constructive, which hopefully involves beer and music.
