Sakho can try to be too clever sometimes but when he is in our back four we look so much better than any other combination. Since coming back into the team we have looked far more assured and the team are growing in confidence. When playing against one of the best sides in Europe any slight mistake will be punished.

You could argue Zaha's lack of tracking back with Alexander-Arnold was to blame which added more pressure to our backline and dragged the players out of position...

Further back there were 3 of our players messing around on their right flank and not putting a tackle in to prevent a cross. First goal we looked under the cosh from the whistle. To be fair we had ridden our luck in the 1st half after taking the lead. Defensive errors, lack of ball retention and poor finishing were all there. On the plus we had a threat and looked physically strong.

I can’t believe some fans we have one of the best defenders I have seen at Palace in my time the way he brings the ball down and try’s to play out of defence is excellent of course by doing this you will be prone to the odd mistake.

I believe the record this season with him and Tompkins playing together it’s something like 10 game 5 clean sheets and 5 goals conceded this says it all to me on how important they both are to our team.

The only problem is you can’t build a solid platform on players that can only play 10 or so games together without constantly getting injured something we are going to have to look at.

On a slightly different note why nobody can deny that CB needs dropping we also have to acknowledge his header that played Zaha in for the penalty also when strikers go on a Barron run they get taken out of the firing line to help stop there confidence being to smitherinens unfortunately cause of bad management at the start of the season in not buying another striker we have not been able to The the pressure is constantly on CB and unfortunately it has had a massive impact on his confidence and him as a player.

We need to support these players not constantly knock them even some of the big players at other teams have struggled Lacazette at Arsenal to name one but you don’t become a bad player over night.

Let’s support the guys we have 6 big games with 2 wins required to stay up.

Come on Palace we can do this together.

Quite amusing really when, on another thread about Mane's handball, you claimed McCarthy was the nearest Palace player to him!!

I was disconcerted yesterday by how quickly the ball was coming back when we had it in defence. I was watching on TV, but there was a spell of five minutes or so when we kept the bell for around 15 seconds each time we got it.

The key to surviving against these bigger sides is keeping possession. Sakho seems to bring the ball down and distribute it, whereas the others seem to lump it forward.

Sakho makes mistakes, but we need more like him, not less.

The injury lay-offs haven't been good for him - he's not yet back to being the beast we were hoping to buy. Always had the moments of madness in him - hopefully Roy tells him not to f*** about in these crucial few games.

Next season, if we're still in the PL under Roy, I think we'll really benefit from having someone who actually wants to distribute the ball properly from defence.

He is a top defender.
He makes mistakes - tell me a player who doesn't.
Both goals were really created from our right hand side and on both occasions Bissaka had two men.
Whose fault was that?
Either Kelly or Townsend is my guess?
Sakho may have got a couple of things wrong but in fact he helped keep the League's most potent striker to one proper chance which he sadly scored from.
The OP listened to too many pundits after the game!!

You say that as if it's Liverpool's fault. If I recall correctly we were desperate to buy both of them and Liverpool wouldn't sell for ages until we made it too difficult for them to refuse
