Poll on BTsport still stating Swarbrick got it right saying that there's deliberate handball and handball where he didn't do it for his own advantage,to me deliberate is exactly that.

I think his silence on the matter speaks volumes, after his "tipple" it will be I dont want to turn this into another Willo thread.
Answering other posters, I was very close to the penalty incident...minimal contact, he slipped, didn't even fall down immediately, squeeled like a child and rolled around holding his shin. Absolute disgrace

I do not see the difference between a defender handling on the line and receiving a red and a striker diving but only receiving a yellow.
My seat is upper Holmesdale and three from the back and it was a dive as the defender was at least a foot away when Mane dived.
There were a number of weird decisions such as Benteke being pulled down and the free kick going their way or Wilf being taken out on the line and play on being waved. Swarbrick gave decisions based on who was fouled or fouling and it happens too often for the FA or Premier League to continue ignoring it.
Finally anyone expecting to receive a descriptive answer from the Brighton fan is either a newbie or extremely hopeful/naive

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

The referee was spot-on with the penalty and deservedly awarded a yellow to Mane for diving.

We don't know how the game would have unfolded if Mane had been sent off but we do know that Benteke's efforts in front of goal were embarrassing and Sakho was responsible for inept defending for the 2 Liverpool goals.

This is why we lost, NOT because of the referee who overall had a very good game.

Going out now for a tipple or two and watching the big fight !

Total waffle.
Referee decided to make up his own rules to enable a player to stay on the field. What happens if he doesn't cheat, I don't know, but f***ing hell I'd love to have the chance to find out.
Blame your own, fine, but they made genuine mental and technical errors. Swarbrick did neither, he cheated. No referee can overall have a good game when he flatly refuses to do his job.

Not really he didn't the rules if you read through them never states you have to book players this is the problem it leaves most open for each ref to see it there own way.

they really need to re write a set in stone all the offenses that should be booked theres only handful that are set which mostly relates to goalkeeper.

this is the same with the mane dive/pen contact is made so they say that is always a pen but he dived short while after (klopp made me laugh making out the pain kicked in after which is why that guy is clearly on drugs)

the ref did alright first half second half he was like a different person i wonder at times if someone is in there ear telling them how the game should go too often this happens with big teams

Deliberate handball is a yellow card offence. To do it to stop an attacker going through makes it a straight red.

from my reffing experience the incident warranted a yellow card as the player pulled the ball towards him with his hand. You can be lenient if the player falls on the ball or brushes it with their hand but HE picked the bloody thing up.
Tomorrows papers will all be about man city, no ones interested in when we are robbed of justice. Just like clattenf'ck at the cup final. Im getting used to it now.

A deliberate handball does not automatically mean a caution.

The Law states :

There are circumstances when a caution for unsporting
behaviour is required when a player deliberately hand
the ball, e.g. when a player:
•
deliberately and blatantly handles the ball to prevent
an opponent gaining possession
•
attempts to score a goal by deliberately handling the ball.

In terms of the incident involving Mane, there is no dispute that he deliberately handled but he might have done so because he thought he had been fouled hence a free kick.

In terms of an opponent gaining possession if my recollection is correct, McCarthy was not near the ball and Mane was nearest to it and was favourite to get to it first.

Obviously I don't know what was going through the referees mind so any comment as to the possibilities would be pure speculation.

In any event the debate is about the referee who at the end of the day didn't lose us the game,in fact he made an excellent decision NOT to award a penalty when Mane went to ground.Step forward Messrs Benteke and Sakho who certainly played their part in our defeat.

Post match, Klopp himself said it should have been a red card. He said he had no idea what the ref was thinking.

He also complained about our penalty, and their non-penalty, and the yellow on Mane for diving, but he seemed to think that the second yellow on Mane should have been no question.

You can dress it up however you like but if that was the other way around our player would of walked and the game may of panned out differently. I am not interested in who refs our games as I have come to expect the big club bias from all of them and it’s not something they set out to do but in the heat of the game it’s probably a natural reaction to think the big team should win and get more decisions through the game.

Looking back at the handball you couldn’t get more deliberate , I mean look at the Watford v Bournemouth game yesterday where the Watford player did a maradona still punch to put the ball out of play he received a yellow and conceded a penalty , moment of madness if I’ve ever seen one

Regarding our Penalty in some ways you can say we was lucky because Wilfs foot was way too high so ref would of stopped the game for that.

At the end of the day we threw away another game it was nothing to do with the ref and had Mane been sent off whos to say we would of gone on to win anyway the past has shown we don't do well against 10 men
