He looked fine, but it was noticeable how we shifted our entire back four across the pitch to give him as much help as possible.

PVA on the other side had nearly half of the pitch to cover by himself because Tomkins and TFM were both playing further across to the right than normal.

I don't know if we can do that too often so it might be that he is a bit more exposed if he keeps his place.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Yes, I picked up on that as well, but what didn't help is that the Spurs right back was constantly overlapping on PVA's side and he was constantly watching two players. Tomkins had a blinder in my opinion, covering Kane superbly and watching out for both PVA and AWB. No wonder he pulled up with cramp and dare I say we would have scrambled the point had he stayed on?

I thought that he played quite well. The only thing I questioned was his positioning, he seemed to spend too much time in the center.. Thankfully it didn't make a difference in this game.

Listen to what Roy said after the game. We setup to allow them no space through the centre of the pitch and force the ball out wide to Tottenham's full backs, hence why Bissaka and PVA were tucked in so narrowly. It was extremely unlikely either would get done for pace on the outside and Roy would have known that neither Davies or Aurier can cross the ball.

I never heard Hodgson before the game but you are right about our tactics and shape.

Regards pace on the outside, Davies admits himself he is not one of the quickest but I have seen him cross a good ball and Aurier is a full-back who gets forward.

Incidently,Davies' parents are both Swansea season-ticket holders so they must have been delighted that we lost but disappointed that their son's team never beat us by more so that Swansea came out of the relegation zone !

I was at a non-league game on Saturday and a chap next to me muttered that not even professionals can take throw-ins properly ! I thought of him when Aurier kept foul throwing !

I was pleased for him. He settled in very well in a difficult match. Totally deserves another chance

Shouldn't we be doing this a bit more, we have a youngster scoring for fun in our junior teams, aren't they worth a shot, other sides seem to play these lads and they do well, anything has to be better than using poor old Benteke, at the moment!!!

I disagree. They totally deserved the win. Hennessey was MOTM, saved a lot. They created plenty in the second half. First half was more balanced, but if that had not been offside it would have been a penalty and 1-0 since 30th minute- Game Over.

If Townsend had played in a virtually unmarked Benteke instead of shooting from miles out we'd have been 1-0 up. If Sorloth had cut it back for a wide open PVA we'd have been 2-0 up. If the ref had made an incorrect decision and awarded a pen for when Sorloth was almost through on goal we would have been 3-0 up. If Spurs didn't have such good players we'd have beaten them 4-0. Game over.

He was awful for Spurs. Aside from the throw-in debacle, he had a ridiculous amount of space and time down the right flank but repeatedly hit his crosses straight at a Palace defender, missed an open goal and got out-muscled and out-paced by Sørloth on a couple of occasions. I bet Wan Bissaka wishes he could have swapped places!
