Schoolboy defensive errors .... can't deliver corners .... or score enough goals. We would be comfortably sitting mid table if our current squad was firing on all cylinders. Imho our last four games reveal our level of mediocrity.

If we could score last minute penalties we'd be quite comfortable too!

And we would be even better off, if Benteke could convert at least some 25% of the chances he gets, the only way we get anything for him is as part of a 1+1 free but at least we would save on his wages!

I feel that this summer will totally transform our squad, regardless of division - naturally if we went down, it would strip us of our assets and core players - it's unlikely Zaha would do a Wright/AJ and give us one more year.
If we stay up, well, if Roy is our manager he will want his squad his way but he may only be there for another year, so would they really take the gamble on his judgement, baring in mind what we just witnessed over january. So we may have a new manager in with funds, but obviously we would need to create revenue from some where.

Worse case scenario, we go down and out go a lot of the players.

We stay up, zaha leaves and we rebuild, it wouldn't be a bad thing, but zaha is part of the furniture and with all due respect i don't think he can replicate his success here at another club, he's emotional, feeds of positive reinforcements, top clubs won't have the luxury of that, Man Utd as an example.

Best case, we stay up, build team around Zaha

If I were Wilf I would be courting PSG. Now over there he would excel. Same team as Neymar he would run riot.
At Tottenham most of his time would be on the bench. He is too flamboyant for them He would frustrate their style. PSG he would explode there.
Leave him here and he will continue to be crocked and frustrated. PSG would pay top bucks.....say £75M. Then everyone goes away happy.

We all need this now. Benteke should also go this summer for £22M
Keep all the others stars. Stay up and have £159M to build a mid table team

Didn't Wright Foxtrot Oscar the season after we finished third (and were still in the top tier when he went)? Wilf has been more to Palace than Wright. Wright's goals weren't everything.

Can’t believe some of these responses. More suited to North Stand Chat. Where would we be without Wilf this season. Down and out, that’s where. You lot think that our star performer should move to a bigger club for his own sake. That did him well last time! Unbelievable. I thought this was a Palace fans forum.

Of course from a purely selfish point of view who would want him to leave. But if you remove your head from your arse and think about it from a broader perspective, it would be more criminal not to let the lad fulfil his potential or at least see if he can.

Agreed.

Also I'd say we're still in a very strong position regarding his contract length and no need to sell. Zaha obviously loves the club and for that I doubt he'd cause a stink even if he did secretly want to move on.

Can not therefor see him leaving unless someone breaks the bank for him with an offer we can't refuse.

£50m isn't that offer...

He's worth more to the club for three more seasons, even if he then left on a free than a £50m fee would help us.

I can imagine Parish would honor a gentlemens agreement though, but can't imagine he'd let him go until the club is stabalised and securing points without him.

Can not for the life of me see Wilf leaving this summer unless we go down.

Agree with all of this.

Some good posts but some money in addition to the usual £45 mil - £50 mil is probably needed to do what we need to do, and you need a sale that is more than the cost of a replacement, and we don't have many of those. Townsend? Tomkins? Benteke probably not.

I hope Freedman has been looking in the reduced sections.

no doubt like the rest of us, he'll be keenly interested in how we replace/extend the out of contract players and the loanees we get. a really half arsed shambles and I for one won't blame him for agitating.

we mayn't sign RLC but another half season would make much sense all round if he's not a sick note.
