Can't we argue without all the infantile insults? I liked Sørloth's performance for his obvious intelligence and application - he was clearly told to track back on the left wing when we were out of possession and he did all that ugly stuff with great application and intelligence, when he got the ball in awkward spots he kept it and drew the foul, he released it straightaway to the right man and never dwelt indecisively on the ball, he put his foot in, won headers always was in the right place on the pitch and showed the odd goal threat on the rare occasion a chance fell his way, but he never lost patience or moped because he wasn't getting service (unlike his strike partner normally does). He doesn't look amazing in terms of skill level, not an abundance of flair but he look technically adept (hence the OP's criticism) but there is something about his energy, application and focus that makes you see he will get his head down and improve from what is already a decent level. Would think double figures goal-wise would be a good season for hi mand you could really se him ripping up the championship (hope that's not tempting fat) which is another reason for the OP's negativity - I see what the OP means but I think it's far too negative ad far too early to argue what he has argued.

I thought Sorloth had a decent game. Put himself about. Of course there was room for improvement but I think he may pop up with a few pivotal goals in the run in. Not sure if I like him and Benteke together, they're too similar in playing style. Hopefully I am proven wrong, what I would give for Sako right now...

That is a very fair critique of his performance, couldn't have put it better myself.

The OP has slipped up in previous posts but you don't get it. I pulled him up last November, he didn't reply and went quiet but he didn't need to, because you replied to me on his behalf. I get that just because someone posts a view that others think is outrageous, it doesn't mean that they are a troll but you have got this one wrong and others can see that also. Genuine question. Have you ever been able to spot someone trolling the site?

How about if those opinions differ to yours though? You don’t always appear to deal with it very well. Just my opinion.

Think Sørloth could be exactly what we need right now as an alternative option up front, time will tell but has come in to a much better league and in a relegation dogfight so by all (most) accounts he sounds promising from his debut. Also if the worst happens hopefully we have someone who a) isn’t too billy big boll*cks to not want to stick around for a while and b) would be able to cope with the physicality of the championship (sincerely hoping it won’t come to that).

I'm pretty sure that 90% of the good, hard work a player does during a decent performance is unglamorous and isn't generally noticed: tracking back, closing down, chasing balls, covering for others, just giving opponents something else to think about and creating options that aren't necessarily taken up. But if a player isn't doing those things usually you notice him hanging about, looking lost or being in the wrong place. Soerloth worked hard in a game which we spent a lot of in defensive mode and wasn't willing to use "we didn't get many chances" as an excuse. The casual observer however will say that he had a header on target, should have had an assist or two, and apart from that "didn't do much". Which would be wrong. Now TBF Benteke has been doing those things to an extent, but his finishing has been so poor for so long that they can hardly compensate.

Thought he played pretty well really, as debuts go (an away game in an injury ravaged side lest we forget), thought was pretty assured. My one concern is that he doesnt or wont offer anything much different to what Connor Wickham does, when he's finally fit. I'd have far rather we'd have signed a pacy runner like Niasse as at least we'd have some variance in our attack.
