Now we are really goin' to see Roy's worth! While the socalled "great" managers - Pep, Jose & co go out and buy an other 50 mill. pund player or two if someone injured - our own Sir Roy have to deal with what we've already got in the squad. I think he'll see us through AND get money to spend come summer!

I agree.
I think he is a genuinely good Manager for Teams at our level and so this will be a test to engender confidence within the team, get a backs to the wall spirit going and give them a plan to execute.
We will see!

A few days ago I would have said "no way" and "God forbid" in regards to trying to sign that odious human being Samir Nasri, but that was before we lost both Sako and Zaha for the remainder of the season.

Keep your eyes on Roys presser for proper news rather than the crap circulating the press the last few days before getting totally stressed out about Wilf's injury. Samir Nasri as you say is not a pleasant person but not a bad footballer. Not sure if I would like him at the club though and would prefer to see Lumeka or Lokilo given a go on the wing. They don't have to set the world alight, just concentrate when defending and get some decent crosses in when attacking.

Hennessey

TFM----Tomkins-----Sakho----PVA

Townsend---Luka--Cabaye---CYL

----------Jimmy--------

-------------Benteke---------

Henry
Souare
Ward
Delaney
Riedwald
Rakip
Soroloth

Makes me sick/angry to still be typing Chungs name into a team sheet in our 5th season in the premier league, but we have no other options.
Could of course play Jimmy wide and pack midfield with Riedwald.
Or as has been discussed, push PVA on and use Ward/Souare at left back, think that will be too many changes for Roy though.

Why not give Sørloth a go and play McArthur left midfield? Asking a lot of him I know but needs must etc....?

I would say purely as we need an option on the bench if we need to try and change the game. Sako is such a loss

Hi, I rarely post but always read the comments. I do think we should change formation to 4411 - very similar to the 442 formation that has been drilled into the players by Roy.

Hennessey
Ward Tomkins Sakho PVA
TFM McArthur Milivojevic Townsend
Cabaye
Benteke

Or

Hennessey
TFM Tomkins Sakho Ward
Townsend McArthur Milivojevic PVA
Cabaye
Benteke

Subs - Speroni / Henry, Kelly, Soure, Jach / Rakip, Riedewald, Lee, Sorloth

A lot of attempting to square pegs into round holes on here - not to mention going back to solutions that haven't worked previously and general panic..!!

Can't see Roy changing his starting formation - so forget the 3 at the back with wing backs scenario.

No-one seems to be mentioning/considering Rakip - he's obviously got something about him for Benfica to sign him on a 5 year deal - reports suggest that they see him as a big part of their future.

So why not;

Hennessy
TFM, Tomkins, Sakho, PVA
Milo McArthur
Townsend Cabye Rakip
Benteke

Just a thought and seems good to me.

COYP

Seeing as we know Roy likes 442 with more defensive wide players I'd like to see.

Hennessey

TFM - Tomkins - Sakho - PVA

Rakip - Cabaye - Milivojevic - Mccarthur

Townsend - Benteke

I know Wilf has a little dip in form (although I'd argue he just hasn't scored and has actually played well in a lot of games), and people just make it out as easy as being "oh he's playing up front" but the fact of the matter is this is system Roy plays with and we need pace in our attacking areas. One target man is enough in a team. Some of the best football we played this season was when it was Townsend and Wilf up top running at defences. We need a runner at the front of the pitch and it's just not the style of either Benteke or Sorloth. It would be like playing Wickham and Benteke off of eachother. It's a tactic that can surely only work in very particular games (Burnley at home for example).

We're the Arthur over ere!
