For all the stick people love to give Benteke, Zaha's miss was the worst of the lot yesterday from TFM's low cross.

If we're talking about the same chance, this one was blocked by Yedlin and was, mistakenly, given as a goal kick. Was on target until that block.

Pretty sure in our last 3 games we've had better first halves in 2 of them...(Burnley and West Ham)

We were helped yesterday by Newcastle sitting back a bit in the 2nd half since they were winning. We did do brilliantly though to pile the pressure on. Two incredible blocks denied us victory.

We played really well, just didn't take our chances. Am happy with that.

For all the stick people love to give Benteke, Zaha's miss was the worst of the lot yesterday from TFM's low cross. Benteke's first was average, good save by the keeper, and his header at the end beat the keeper but was blocked on the line. He was also really unlucky not to get the rebound from Darlow's save in the first half.

I don't think Wilf chases much more than Benteke does when they are both up front, but people have got it into their heads now, only scoring a few goals will start to change that. There was a long ball in the second half which was pinged way way past Benteke and the crowd went absolutely nuts that he didn't sprint after it. No one else was with him, the team has to move together.

I've seen some ridiculous posts when people defend benteke, people blaming his laziness on his height and weight, the old " if Bentekes that bad why does he start!" But this is unreal, you don't think wilf chases more then benteke!? Try watching the games, because that's a joke of a statement.

Benteke won just about everything in the air today against solid central defenders, he was a total unit, he headed the ball to other attacking players as hell as most players pass with their feet, he got on the end of so much more than he used to, the defence were terrified of him, forcing them to go for positioning that they wernt happy with...his finishing is all thats missing...

But...I still would have put on our new striker just on the offchance...

Which is a bit of a problem when you're the maon striker...

Oh its a massive problem, but because of him and the players around him we are creating way more chances than teams around us. We are only scoring from 1 or 2 a game but most teams would happily take that over a top striker that never gets the ball...

I do really appreciate that he wins a lot in the air, and holds the ball up well, but at thd end of the day he's there to score goals and he's scored 2 all season it's not like he's not had chances either, if he'd have taken a few of the ones he's missed, we wouldn't be in the position we're in now. A little quiz for you,,,,has any teams main striker in all 4 divisions scored less goals than him so far this season?

Back on track, if you watch the videos they post of thd team training each week, the goals are flying in from all angles. Yet match day we seem frightened to shoot.

Couldn't be bothered to look through the top 4 divisions but there are a few team's main men who haven't scored a load this season. Chris Wood (Burnley) and Charlie Austin don't have a lot, albeit more than Benteke but still not the number you should expect at this stage of the season.

We talk about Benteke's contribution a lot but Townsend also needs to get in the goals, only 1 this season isn't good enough either. Both players happen to be our top assisters (5 and 4) though if that's any consolation...

I watched our forwards and midfield players practice shooting before the game yesterday. I was shocked how poor they all were from 20 yards. The crowd fielded more balls than the keeper! The worst offenders were Benteke and Townsend.

Okay there, I'll pretend you aren't serious )

I think Benteke doesn't chase as much as any of the other 10 players on the pitch (including the goalie), let alone as much as Zaha

Wish I could get the running stats as the way you lot go on about it Benteke barely runs a mile all game.

When Wilf is on the wing he is up and down a lot, but when he's been up front with Benteke, I haven't seen any crazy closing down. And I am a season ticket holder so have been watching. I think part of it is Roy's instructions.

When a ball is hoofed way past Benteke someone in the crowd will be abusing him for not chasing even if he's about 50 metres away. It's very boring.

Chris Wood .17 games (some as sub) 5 goals
Charlie austin. 17 games (quite a few as sub) 6 goals.
Benteke. 20 games. All starts. 2 goals.....
