? Don't you understand the point. Everyone has emotions, the battlefield scars everybody. This isn't about the make believe fact that men exist that aren't affected by genuine trauma. It's about who you are advertising for. You need to attract those who are resolute and determined. The military should be obsessed with attracting patriotic tough young men with testosterone and giving them trades. Who do you think succeeds in the SAS for example....those who are crying about stress? These adverts are ridiculous and a massive and embarrassing waste of money.
Ok, a bit of Devils advocate on my part. The advert could've been much better and I doubt that now you'll see only artistic adverts without real soldiers or damn good actors in them. If this is so bad then how did it get past the army decision makers when the advertising agency presented it? On the message. I think it's a message that isn't going to be dropped and could be done in a better way. You could have real scenarios of someone going into the army, finding it really tough or being the outsider in the sleeping quarters, saying his thoughts out loud in the advert, with the group from tough working class towns taking it in their stride. Then there's a breakthrough for him/her, he/she is shown at graduation, on a mission and then in a trade afterwards.

In many ways, the training the physical part,as well as silly things like hygiene. Apart from the odd few, haven't most recruits never been up to scratch and it's been up to their seniors to drag them up to the level required? I'm not going to criticise army seniors but by saying this they're surely marking themselves down? Aren't they able to get most up to the level required bar a few dropouts which has always happened?
