So the response on here for Barnes is somewhat negative....Wonder what the Chelski fans make of Barnes being a target for them! Chelsea has been linked in this winter with Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Ashley Barnes and Benteke. Chelsea fans can't think anything else except that Conte has lost his darn minds. They've gotten used to the incredible names by now!!

Disagree we need a Goalscorer,if we do not get the right man now so be it. We don’t, but Barnes clearly isn’t that. He can offer something at PL level as he has shown. I should make it clear, I don’t want him, but having no cover for Benteke is worse than signing someone who isn’t our ideal first choice challenging striker.

Barnes was playing non-league before Ian Holloway signed him for Plymouth.Puncheon was at Plymouth at the same times as Barnes.

I rate him. Always have. He’s a nuisance and has an instinctive approach to scoring. I’d even go as far to say that he’s as good as Wickham IMHO. That might’ve been different had Wickham not always been crocked.

Yes, I kind of agree. Not 100% convinced. But I could see it working. He might be the sort of buzzy foil that might create a bit of movement up front and thus some space for Benteke. To be honest, I think he might be all right. One thing is for sure, I would rather spend £11 million on Ashley Barnes than £21 million on Troy Deeney.

I’d take both Barnes and Livermore. Over the course of Roy’s reign, arguably two of the most consistent performers have been Tomkins and McArthur. Seasoned pros who get in with the job. That is to me, what Barnes and Livermore would bring to the squad. In today’s market, the sums being spoken about aren’t significant. These may not be the Eder’s of this world but they are useful additions to a team in our position.

Could just be a move to get our other targets teams to play ball. We need someone, there are a lot better options than Barnes, but buying no one would be a far worse option. It’s a no from me, unless we don’t get anyone else, in which case, welcome to Palace. I think that sums it up perfectly, defiantly a no no ,unless...............

Barnes and Livermore would definitely add to the depth of the squad if not much in additional quality. They would ‘do a job’http://www.hltco.org/2018/01/29/report-palace-set-make-bid-chelsea-linked-strike
