Kapow. This was supposedly a star buy and French u23 centre back. He played just a couple of games and was laughed off the box by the commentators. Several said this lad hasn't a clue. What was it all about? How did he fool so many for so long, then drift into anonymity.

After he left us, he did go on to play for Bayern Munich and he was there when they won the League.

French Cup, French League Cup, 2 x German doubles (1 with Werder 1 with Bayern) German Cup and German League Cup. All after leaving Palace..hardly faded into anonimity! Sorry I think I have morphed into Willo!!

Nick Carle did perform for us, just very intermittently. He was frustrating to watch because he was better than he played and it was obvious. I’m an Aussie so I was desperate for him to do well especially after the bitter blow of Jordan pulling the plug on the Cahill deal a few years before.

He looked class at times , but tbf to him he was playing in a very direct team and we would quite often bypass midfield which didn’t suite him at all , was a strange signing by warnock as he never used him correctly.

Another vote for Ade Akinbiyi. But Mutch is up there...

I can find some positives in relation to Akinbiyi but I am struggling in relation to Mutch.

But I suspect every club have had players who have not lived up to expectations and supporters have been irate so we are not alone.

In terms of disappointment, Campana, who we signed in 2013/14, has to be up there.

The guy represented Spain at youth level during a time the senior team won both the World Cup & Euros.

Bloody hell, forgot about him! Everybody was very excited about him, I believe he had even captained the Spanish youth team. Didn't fit in, didn't want to fit in. Kinda like Andre Moritz or that half Mexican fella we got from Jaguares. Stacks of excitement, stacks of disappointment and bench time.

Maybe Ivan Kaviedes? Not sure if we owned him or signed him, but he did zilch.

He was an icon in Equador, renowned for his finishing and had a reputation as a free kick specialist.
