He was excellent for us when he 1st signed scoring important goals against Villa & Chelski & then he had a bad injury. He did look unfit & overweight when he returned but so were alot of players under Pardew & you have to question his training methods which Townsend alluded to after he was sacked. I would give him a new contract but I would be worried if his good form will continue after he signed it or will get injured & fat again.Hopefully with Woy in charge this won't happen again & seems to florish working with him. Woy? Typing impediment, bach? Edited by jhillman (14 Jan 2018 7.30am)

One of the things that occurred to me yesterday, for the last couple of years whenever the clubs tweets photos of training sessions, Sako always seems to be in the middle of them, often with a big grin on his face. It has often felt a bit strange that he was so prominent given his lack of playing time. Yesterday a few of the players were tweeting after the game how great it was for him to get another goal. It seems that for all the questions about commitment, he is quite a popular figure at the club. I doubt that would be the case if he'd spent the last couple of years not working hard in training or just coasting.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

I think he is enjoying his football - whatever Roy and Ray have said it has worked, he looks absolute quality now!

He has never really been given a chance up unti now. He has stepped up to the plate just when we needed him. The amount of injuries we have at the moment is unprecedented, so based on all of this he should get a new contract. I am not sure he fits into the lazy brigade, I like his direct approach, reminds me of Yannick B , but with a thunderous shot on him, and more accurate than most...

Excellent work rate yesterday. If he keeps that up plus goals he has to play. He is more mobile than Benteke and more physical than Townsend. I am not going to criticise Big Ben because I think once he scores he will come good. Happy to see both of them play together for now.

I heard his voice for the first time on the interview for match of the day...I don't know why but I expected him to have a deep 'French gone cockney London as he's been here so long toned voice'. When I heard a quiet high pitched French accent I was stunned. Lol

He gives us another dimension to our play with that rocket of a shot. Makes us harder to defend against: do you close down Sako to prevent a possible shot from outside the box? Man Mark Zaha? In the past we have been predictable, spread it wide, hope for a decent cross. That’s why he has been valuable I think.

... go go Sako!!! Looks like he's loving every minute of it and that probably means he'll run his legs off for us. If he earns another contract by doing that then hats off to him. A good man to have around.

What can the club do if we do not give him another contract it will cost 10m or more to get another player in. Lets hope it is just a case of him being fit and back to his best.

I think it's a bit unfair to say he's only making an effort because his contract's up. He's always seemed one of our more enthusiastic players even though until recently he hasn't been given much of a chance (through injury or whatever and he was definitely Pardewed). He comes across to me as a very genuine likable bloke who loves the club. I think the accusations (I know a lot of people have been defending him too) are quite endemic of some of our fans, never bloody happy Edited by boo909 (14 Jan 2018 1.46pm)
Bangell - If Camus wrote The Myth of Sisyphus today, it would be about Jason Puncheon eternally trying and failing to pass with his right foot. |
