You are right but in this case I think the amount was ridiculous and higher than originally agreed. Everton also refused to pay up. Can't blame Parish for not wanting to line the pocket of a greedy agent

Both the Everton and Palace side of the deal were quoted as stating the player’s agent suddenly, and at the last minute, requested a large additional payment. If that is true, it is right that Parish scuppered the deal.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

It was the Champions League, the 'biggest club competition in the world' so it isn't a Mickey Mouse game.

I wrote that Parish wouldn't pay the agent's fee. We had not signed Sakho at that time because both deals were negotiated at the same time, they arrived in Soho together. They were actually pictured arriving together.

All deals involved agents being paid, just look at Pogba. It's part and parcel of football. I admired Jordan's stance on agents though it hurt us sometimes.

It seems people love Parish for the same reasons they hate Jordan.

I wasn't suggesting it was in Micky mouse games, i just couldn't remember what cup competition it was,but it was the goals he scored in these cup games that booster his value. I know Sakho signed at the last minute, but EVERYONE knew the fee was around 30M

There are two ways to look at it. What you said above, which I can agree with and then there is the situation we find ourselves in now.

If we went down would the agent's fee look like a lot of money?

We lost out on Cahill because Jordan refused to pay the fee, we got relegated but I agreed with the stance at the time.

No it wouldn't but it would have to guarantee not getting relegated. That of course is impossible, so we can't link a specific amount of money to saving the club from relegation.

Didn't think we'd get close to signing 6-7 players and yet we have two in the door already and reports linking us to being very close to four others.

Signed:
Jaro Jach (undisclosed - aka cheap)
Erdal Rakip (loan +€10m option)

Close to:
Guaita
Dembele
Eder
Jack Hendry

Looks like a very promising window.

Hats off to Freedman! I'm sure they won't all be diamonds but buying low de-risks and increase possible upside returns.

I don't know any of them but still am feeling positive.

Yes agreed Gold and a well done to Mr Parish.
Mind you, we will need to wait until we see them play in the Red & Blue,to see if they are good additions.

Palace 13th 2017/18.

Hopefully we all give them time to get up to speed with the Prem... and don't write them off like we did Jaro Reidewalde.

Not convinced about the wisdom of going for Eder. And in the recent spirit of anagrams, the likely price seems a bit DEER to me. Coat already on.

Not sure the club agree. I suspect Eder is our primary target i.e. why senior reps are in Italy (not Scotland); and why it is the most involved.

Also, no evidence save unreliable paper guesses and betting sites linking us to Dembele. Obviously I would love him to play for us.

Shouldn't believe everything you REED either, but I agree, I don't like the sound of an expensive 30 something player joining us from the Inter reserves.
