the stadium was fairly quiet on the telly. Lots of empty seats. Commentators talking in a casual voice.

the FA cup stands for F.A.

Honestly, I couldn't have cared if we lost 7-0. I think a 2-1 loss is a great result. I think losing with the last goal being bundled over the line is a particularly good result as there are very little bragging rights. The real bragging will be who beats who in the league and who finishes above who - not this FA Cup comp. Brighton want to see us relegated. Thanks to Parish and another sh1t start to the season Brighton ALREADY have the bragging rights. You think they are going to cry if we won that cup round and went down? We ALREADY, thanks to Parish, have the humiliating honour of a PL record for the worst start to any season in 100 years. So f@ck off with your stupid whining about this FA Cup result. We need to put all of our very limited resources (thanks to Parish) into avoiding relegation and kicking Brighton's arse in the PL, because if we go down and they stay up, THAT my friends, will be something to brag and cry about and they will NEVER let us forget it.

Quite. We lose by a late goal with our 2nd XI in a cup competition we were never going to prioritise away from home against another PL team and half the fans melt down.

The correct response is a shrug of the shoulders and "f*** it". Weed fans might think we're important but this match was nothing to do with our season's goals and they are an irrelevance really.

I would say the season's goals for a club like us would be as follows:
1. Stay up
2. Have a decent cup run
3. Score some bragging points against our rivals

Seems like we threw away the last two tonight without even trying. And Its the not trying that really gets me.

Always feel good reading posts that's in favour of Steve Parish!!!! What has our present chairman really done for the club......unless saving us for vanishing, our longest PL run ever, a FA Cup final, a seemingly wonderful upgrade on Selhurst Park, getting Zaha back?

Every cloud has a silver lining - we don't have the long trip to Boro and so the players have extra recovery time. It is what it is, the weed won an irrelevant game (given the context of the league an the b team put out), the important thing is to climb up the league and whack them good when they come to Selhurst.
We have enough injuries as it is, a run in the cup would only make it worse - get your cheque book out Parish.

Actually Middlesbrough is one of the easiest clubs for the team to get to with direct flights from Heathrow to Middlesbrough Airport

And I too love Steve Parish for all those reasons. I love my Dad for even a longer list of reasons. Feeding me, clothing me, loving me, sheltering me etc, but does that mean he was a perfect dad? My dad had failures that needed to be addressed. Now, do I want to SP gone? No way! He is a fantastic part of CPFC and I would hate to see him go as it would be our loss. But does he have weaknesses expressed in every transfer window that has the potential to f@ck everything up? Yes he does. Criticism of his continual, admitted, non-actions in transfer windows and preseasons is not because I have decided to suddenly hate-on my club's owner, it's because I really care.

Well said.
Sickening to see whats been said tonight.
People have lost sight of what football is all about and seem to have been blinded by the premier league propaganda machine

I must be one of the blind, been supporting Palace for over 60 years, seen more games than you have hot dinners, BUT delighted we are out of the FA cup, the league is far more important, even if we got to the final, it would probably mean relegation.

I don't actually care.

Did it feel like a game between rivals? Nope.

s*** crowd and two s*** line ups. No one seemed bothered. Esspecially most of the players. Weren't up for it at all apart from a handful.

Summed it up perfectly...woeful atmosphere...lacklustre performance...would far rather have played a few kids to rest playets.

Spot on, apart from your anti Parish remarks, ie "our very limited resources" better go to spec savers and have another look at the quality in our team, YES, i know we still need a couple more.

I went down there obviously not wanting to lose, but after seeing our makeshift team playing weed’s fringe players in a half empty stadium(although we did our bit) I really didn’t fancy more of the same in a replay and Middlesbrough is a crap draw so I wasn’t too gutted by the defeat, we’ll let them have that one and do them in the league!!

I’d have cared if we both played first team eleven. It was Palace reserves vs Brighton reserves. Not arsed.

It wasn't though, was it? We started with only four changes from the previous game, albeit Souaré was an enforced further change fairly early on. The tactics, especially in the first half, were abysmal, as was the defending throughout. Add that to a team that, Sako excepted, couldn't be bothered and the outcome was inevitable. With one notable exception, those that played last night should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves and that performance, which 2,000 Palace supporters paid £25 for.

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!
