Never our fault when these normally very highly regarded players/managers come and go is it? All of them have awful attitudes apparently. Definitely never anything to do with our approach to affairs or professionalism on our side. Can picture the stories surfacing already of Riedewald being feckless and work shy when he departs. Back on subject. We've had a goalkeeping crisis for years. We tried this cheap approach with McCarthy a few years ago and it didn't work out. Could be a hidden gem but he's 30, young for a keeper as some have said maybe, but is this really the best we can do? For me personally, a large percentage of whatever budget we have available should be put towards a keeper and perhaps we could save a few buck on a centre half, and try and get one on the cheap who can "do a job" whilst others return from injury (a Hangeland type). Don't think we should be scraping the barrel for a goalkeeper. We should be identifying someone who can secure number one spot for years to come. We're literally crying out for it. Edited by Mstrobez (07 Jan 2018 11.56pm) Seems like a very good gk. Because of CB injuries to Sakho and Dann, we now need extra reinforcements at CB and DM, to strengthen the defensive spine of the team, so this looks to be a very good, and good value, signingb

Watford think they have convinced Guaita to sign for them as Crystal Palace delay their answer. But negotiations continue and one of the two might get the goalkeeper for less than the €8m of his buy out clause

Kindly provide a list of potential realistic signings in recent years who we have lost out on through delay alone and who have gone on to have successful spells with the "speedier" clubs and who would have been a good fit for us.

I thought the hold-up here was Getafe trying to find a replacement.

Meanwhile on ssn .......WATFORD RIVAL PALACE FOR GUAITA Watford have moved ahead of Crystal Palace in the race to sign Getafe keeper Vicente Guaita, according to Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague. The 30-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season and Getafe are keen to get a fee - believed to be £3.5m - rather than lose him for nothing in the summer. Sky Sports News reported last week that Palace, who are in the market for a new 'keeper in the January window, are in negotiations to sign the Spaniard.

Having seen Hennessy let in another terrible goal hopefully somebody willl see there should be a bit of urgency here.

I think it's uncontroversial that making the right appointment is more important than making an appointment in haste. Look what happened when Swansea got that much-trumpeted Sanchez character in who turned out to be an absolute basket-case.
