Unless you’re intending to miss that is - in which case would we call it a goal?

Of course not, a save is when the goalie stops the ball going in the net, a miss is when the ball is off
target, ie over the bar or out side the posts.
Sorry if i am a bit pedantic about this, but it still annoys me that Southgates penalty in the world cup against Germany is talked about as a miss, but Hoddles ans Waddles penalty kick that went way over the bar (MISS) were not mentioned, coz they played for the great spurs ,

Southgate's was at Euro 96, not a world cup.

Hoddle never took one in 1990, it was Pearce and Waddle who missed and all 3 did an advert taking the mick out of themselves.

Other than that, i.e. your first paragraph, spot on.

Don’t you mean Waddle that missed. Pearce was saved!

Told you this was unnecessarily confusing. Although in agreement with principle.

Scored and missed - easier.

Yep, twas saved. I couldn't remember what happened with Pearce's 90 one, other than it didn't go in.

He's been awesome, in every way. Leader on the field, committed and competent player, he's great.

But it's how much he loves it that makes me appreciate him the most. It's not just his bellowing celebration at the end of yesterday's game but I tend to look out for him after every goal we score.. he goes nuts!! Go back and watch goal highlights from our last few games and you'll see what I mean.

Yes, yes and yes. I do the same, I actually look at all the players and rewind on sky plus to see who looks the happiest. Townsend also seems to be one of the first there. (Drives my wife mental)

Where were you at QPR
