That's the one. I wouldn't even have been pi""ed off if he had sent Puncheon off because the game was all but over and I'd sooner see Lee or even Mutch come on than Puncheon these days. Those two may not be all that in terms of skills but at least they work. Edited by chateauferret (01 Jan 2018 11.44am)

I think a few on here need to get of there soap boxes!! Punch had an impact yesterday, the change had to happen as cabayes legs had gone and we were being over run. That said we had no jimmy mac or rlc so Roy tried to remain unchanged as long as poss! I think people allow the nightclub episode to cloud there judgement! I loved that when punch came on we chanted his name and I thought that that in itself gave us something in those last 10 mins which we needed, so not so much punch but more the sub made a difference and had the desired effect. I’m sure punch will be the first to admit how far down the pecking order he has slipped. But when needed he will always be there to do a job for us, which imo makes him as valuable part of squad as anyone else. It was a missed timed tackle at best and yes it was made on one of this years leading lights in the pl. but punch isn’t Roy Keane and therefore would not of flown into that tackle to seriously injure kdb! Il be honest I’m far more concerned about Scott Dann and punch’s injuries than I could ever be about a player at another club but then that’s just me - I support palace and not the premier league! Happy new year peeps!!

Zaha is fouled like that in almost every match. The commentators often refer to it as necessary or taking one for the team. I don't like cynical tackles and that's what Punch's tackle was. However, the OP sounds more like a Man City supporter with their massive over reaction. Save your breath for when our players (regularly) receive the rough treatment. Man City have enough support.

It wasn't that bad of a challenge and after city's disgusting behaviour before the penalty who cares if we injured them.

Oh. Ok. By deploring what you deplore when it's done to one of ours, I'm a Citeh supporter? Couldn't make it up. One-eyed. Originally posted by taylors lovechild

There was no real violent intent in it, it was just an awful tackle made in a panic, by a player who's u nfortunately really off his game these days, probably deserved a red even though the ref didn't think so. And it doesn't help your case coming across as patronising and superior either, have a little respect for posters who have a differing viewpoint to your own.
Have to say I agree with the comments ive put in bold

Originally posted by Glazier#1 And knee - high. Agree with this, no doubt He wanted to stop De Bruyne and succeeded. As De Bruyne was the most dangerous person on that break it made sense. Went high so he wouldn't get jumped over. I don't think he aimed to hurt De Bruyne and it turned out he didn't hurt him badly. But did deserve a Red Card and I reckon Punch probably expected that. So it was the right thing to do but maybe not carried out quite clinically enough to avoid danger to both parties.

Good grief; what a to-do! It was a foul. It got punished. It happens. Get over it.
