Let's assess the fans.

Tez - Too critical. Likely to start booing. Accentuates the negative. We need to ask him to raise his supporting game, or ship him out to Chelsea.

Mid you, it could be that Tez is a typical Libran, and is very thoughtful about things, in a way that can be construed as negative and unhelpful

Palace have lost one game in their last eight. That loss was a 1-0 defeat v Spurs at Wembley, where, among several (the majority) of chances, Wilf missed an open goal.
My desire? To want the next eight games to yield the same return. Maybe an extra win here or there, but a missed penalty is evidence of nothing.
Find a team who can achieve my desire...oh already in place, Rejects and all. Difficult to understand the point of this thread.
If Palace hired a new manager who could do what Woy has achieved I would ask why? This post is a little like love: we don't know what we have 'til its gone. Not a bad synopsis...we all love Palace, though some have an odd way of showing this. COYP

We obviously didn’t play well tonight but the difference between the sides was confidence we are short of it and Watford knew they could do a job on us. I think most of the players you mention can play better if we continue to build on this run we give ourselves a good chance of getting away from the bottom three. Quite a few teams could run through their squad and say all is not well but my glass stays half full

The difference is our team is set up to let the player with the ball do it on his own too much with little or no support and their's and other teams are set up to always have an option available.

When we haven't got the result we need we start going for it after 80 mins.

Id Iike to see just a bit of full back overlapping of these predictable inside out wide midfielders. This is a big reason why Andros can't build on anything and Cheek is easily kept quiet. And all whilst there's Benteke stood in the box. Crosses 25 yards from the by line are pointless and predictable again.

We're predictable and quite easy to defend for 80 mins. Quite a fair thing to say and we won't keep winning CRUCIAL games in a few minutes.

Hit the nail on the head Rudi.

Inverted wingers only works if the full backs overlap and provide width.

Who's old enough to remember the inside right and inside left positions, because that is really how we are playing at the moment and by definition, there is no width because that used to be supplied by the wingers under the old 2,3,5 system.

The lack of width was indeed very very obvious yesterday. Townsend is very poor at using space and just goes on dribbles with no chance and as he is lacking a good shot it comes to nothing time after time. For all the criticism of Sako, he actually put a decent cross in within minutes of coming on. Was also disappointed with FTM and his lack of drive forward, not to mention Schlupp on the left who brings absolutely nothing going forward. It's Wilf, Wilf and more Wilf where our attacking treat has to come from.

In the end of the day we are out of the bottom three but we certainly did not look good.

A few thoughts...
As others have said, Zaha should be on the wing where he can cause damage (as in the last 5 mins last night). Sako would be a better option alongside Benteke if Roy insists on a 442. Loftus-Cheek should be in the centre as he showed for England not wasted out wide where he is anonymous. The problem then is who does he play instead of - we're already not playing Jimmy Mac in the middle who is our best box-to-box midfielder. Schlupp in not a left-back - not sure what he really is as he seems unwilling to attack defenders when he does get forward. PVA makes too many errors there and there's talk about Souare being loaned out in January. Perhaps we could try Riedewald at left-back - he has played there for Ajax?

Also, when we get free-kicks in the middle of the pitch, we just take them quickly with a short pass and then usually lose it again. What happened to lumping the ball into the box? Surely more chance of scoring with Benteke, Dann, Tomkins?

Yes I used to play centre-forward in it forty years ago

But we had lots of little fast wily guys at the front, not a stationary lampost that the wingers had to bounce the ball off into the goal.

Full-backs were always clumsy agricultural oaves with turning circles like elephants and we tore them to bits.

Haha, sort of tells you what sort of players we should be signing then. Liverpool and Man City aren't doing too bad with that "little fast" approach.

The wingers would whack the ball towards goal at 100 mph and the one of the following happened.

1. Goal.
2. Ball hits something then we pick it up. Goal.
3. Defender hoofs ball 100000 miles up in the air and we go and get it.
4. Ball hits defender and goes out. Corner.
5. Defender tries to hoof it and falls on his arse. We pick ball up. Goal.
6. Defender or keeper ctashes into us and knocks us over. Penalty.

I think Silva and Mane would tell you its a little more complicated in the modern game :-)
