Benteke could so easily have been the hero of the day. I was at the other end so could not see if he was offered the ball or snatched it. I did see Benteke take his penalty ... but it was very similar to the one taken by the 10 year girl from Bournemouth at half time. That one was saved by Pete the Eagle. Gutted ... of course. This has to be the quote of the season so far . Love it, its so true. COYP

Luka was in a complete state. He didn't leave the box for ages. He was pleading with Benteke. He was pulling his shirt up repeatedly to his face and clutching his head in a classic anxious 'I can't believe this is happening' action. But Benteke simply stood there ignoring him. As I said in another thread, short of grabbing Benteke round the neck and leading him out of the box I don't know what else he could have done. The frustrating thing is that if someone other than himself was the designated taker he is the sort of character that might have physically restrained Benteke. But given that it was him that was supposed to take it, I can understand why he didn't.

In fairness to tekkers, he was desperate to break his scoring duck. He has the bottle to seize the opportunity. He’ll be more gutted than anyone that he fluffed it. Sooner or later, it will come good. Let’s hope it’s sooner. In short he was thinking of himself not the team even though his record in such a situation is very poor. The only way it will come good is if we can get claw back £30mill of the £45mill already spent on him.

I'm suggesting we start charging him on a points he costs us basis. £10 mill everytime he costs us a point £20 mill if he costs the 3 points

And all the fans in the crowd shouting "Luka! Luka! Luka!" Everyone knows who is the designated penalty taker. Even the ref seemed to be saying "Are you sure you don't mean Milivojevic?". Serious disciplinary offence and must be dealt with by the club. Whether he scores or not that conduct isn't acceptable at all. Who the jeffering f*** does he think he is? I can see why Klopp didn't want to use him.

I couldn't give a sh1t if Benteke scores 20 goals for Everton as long as we get him out of Selhurst. Not his fault he is on such stupid money but it is his fault that he doesn't give a sh1t and the management's fault that they can't/won't see it.

I can see the mentality behind it. Late winner, get his confidence up.... but to take the ball off our penalty machine and then to miss. What a serious cock up. To me it feels like a turning point in the season. We bossed the second half and deserved to win. The dressing room will be devastated
