So if he refereed that match so he wouldn't be slated, no doubt he did it in other matches too. One massive game of ours of course springs to mind. The powerful Manchester United couldn't possibly be upset or inconvenienced could they?!

This is a disgrace. How many other refs think the same way? I think we know the answer - all of them. And how long has it been going on? We know the answer to that too!

The arrogance of the man! Mark Clattenburg, it's all about you!

Dermot Gallagher - no friend of Palace, for his infamous reffing of the Palace/Leeds cup tie - agrees.

We all (bar one) knew he was poor, and now he admits he did not give the right decisions on purpose. Bobby Madley is as bad.

This is an absolute f*cking disgrace, and it just proves what I've always thought about the football establishment. My best example is the fax that the FA sent to Arsenal ahead of our (infamous) last game of 'the Oldham season' at Highbury, warning the Gooners of severe consequences should they rest any players ahead of the FA Cup Final the following week. When the f*ck has that ever happened, before or since?

Prior to that - 1990 when (surprise surprise) the age-old equal allocation of FA Cup Final tickets goes out of the window because it's Man Utd against a "less well-supported club" - by FA decree.

I see clatterf*ck is now in charge of refereeing in Saudi Arabia. There's nothing dodgy in that country, now is there??!!!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

You've forgotten Liverpool being allowed back in to Europe earlier before their ban was over. On top of the fact that everyone else got banned purely because of them, putting English football back about a decade.

Not forgotten I assure you...I decided to limit myself to just two examples!

It's quite unbelievable that UEFA bent over for them, not only that time, but also the year after they won the CL too.

If Clattenburg had issued 'Reds' willy nilly he would have been accused on here of ruining the game and "It's all about him" blah, blah, blah...

I have made my views perfectly clear about Clattenburg and his excellence as a referee and I stand gummed to my position on this.

Not going to make any further comments on this thread because as sure as night follows day it will disintegrate into vitriol and vituperation and into yet another tedious WILLO thread. So all barbs and attempts to lure me into discussion will go unanswered.

Then why comment in the first place?

Don’t be a blind follower Willo. Even if he was a good referee that doesn’t make him perfect - as an official or a person. He endangered players that day by allowing dangerous play.

ISTR him "interacting" with Wayne Rooney rather a lot. Hd "interacted" with Ferguson before that cup final too, didn't he? Didn't interact with our men though, just shooed them away.

Bent as a paperclip.

I said all along his refereeing of the final was unorthodox/strange. Wickham and Ward were clean through and impeded by the last defender. Both called back for fouls and I was pleased he didn't play advantage because I was expecting red cards. Instead he punished us and issued yellows. This wasn't a mistake because he didn't play advantage, this was him deliberately not enforcing the laws of the game. He basically decided that law didn't count in this game, obviously because the poor love didn't want to be accused of ruining the final, by doing his job and sending players off. He literally allowed them to take us down every time we counter attacked and for them there was no jeopardy.
Time will come when we will find out the man was bought, I'm sure of it.

Do not forget at least 3 yellow card offences by Rooney, one he got.
but anyone else would have got a red.
