It's certainly Steve Parish's fault that we are in a record fifth season in the top division. Shocking record.

Disgraceful. He should be made to watch every game with a palace legend at his side to remind him of just how good we were in the Championship. That'll teach him.

Changing the subject, Steve Browett has just been on Radio 4 talking about Château Pavie - St.-Emilion 2003 (at £200 a bottle) and about wine critic Robert Parker, who 'controversially' gave wine scores, and who hated it.

He has made very few mistakes during his tenure albeit that a couple might cost us our Premiership standing.
We all make mistakes though but in his position they are magnified somewhat.
His mistakes in my mind are exetnding Pardew's contract instead of either sacking him or making him earn a new one and the striker issue this season.
Other than that he is a top bloke who loves CPFC and is doing his best which is a pretty good best in my eyes.

I have been trying to put our current league position in context compared to our relegation rivals (admittedly I may be clutching at straws and being overly optimistic) but we have played 5 away games....

Burnley: had one of the best home records last year

Newcastle: not many teams get much at St James's

Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool...enough said. I am not sure you would get a harder first 5 away games in any season.
Who next?? Spurs ffs. We will have a run soon where points will be collected. The media seem to have ignored this run of games when taking the p***

what you do not seem to understand is that we want our team in the top flight where we belong, it hurts to see the likes of Huddersfield, Brighton, Burnley, Watford showing us how it is done. There is no logical reason why we cannot be mid table PL club with the right leadership. A small club in the FL is the likes of Exeter, Wycombe, Forest Green etc, if that is you goal fine but some of us aim a lot higher than that!

Let's see who shows us how to do it after 38 games. Remember Hull and Wolves starting well in recent years. Hell, under Pardew we had one amazing start to a season, so I'll wait and see if it's all the same to you?

How exactly are they showing us how its done? Other than Watford we've been in the Premier league longer than the others and all could quite easily see themselves go down this season. the logical reason is that as I said there are another 10 teams vying for the same positions that we are with the same financial reasources available. It really isn't as easy as you seem to think it is. it hurts me as much as anyone to turn up every home game and see another defeat but it's not like Parish etc are enjoying it themselves.

I honestly never knew Dyche applied for the job in the summer?

SP's overall record is highly positive, starting with saving the club. It is to his credit that he moved so fast to get rid of FDB, just as he did with Pardew. The biggest strike against him is the cock-up in the summer transfer window, when he left it so late to get a back-up striker that there was no room for manoeuvre over the agent's exorbitant demands.
Incidentally, what has happened to the idea that we get in a free-agent striker to fill the last place in the team list? Various names were being floated, but it has all gone quiet. Are we just waiting until the next window, do you think?
