No, he would be being criticised for all the goals and some distribution etc etc. Speroni did well today, looked solid and authoritative and above all composed. Did enough to get his place IMHO. Don't know how keen he is to play every week, however. Edited by chateauferret (15 Oct 2017 12.42am)

Don’t change a winning team, speroni stays. It was clearly noticeable the number of times the ball went back to the keeper today. I don’t think the players trust Wayne. By this logic, we should also drop Loftus Cheek and Benteke (when he is fit) Seriously though, It was great to see the Palace legend that is Speroni in goal today, and he did a sterling job to come in to the side and do the business. Its a shame that I have to add anything else to that, as I think Speroni did great today and I really dont want to criticise him, but my hand is forced by the anti-Hennesites, who on a great day for our Club today seem to be exploiting what should be a happy day to further their anti-Hennesey agenda. But those who claim that the renewed confidence in the side was due to Speroni being in the goal have clearly overlooked Zaha's return...

I find it a little silly this JS vs WH crap. We've lost 7 games on the bounce and the keeper hasn't done anything to claim he should be our number one in that period. Jules comes in and also doesn't light the place up but we did win, and that does count for a lot. I'm just not sure why anyone would now want to bring back the keeper who is obviously low on confidence. Rather than stick with the keeper who helped get the first victory without any major mistakes. I'm not a JH fan boy or hater of WH. Just a Palace fan. Said it before and I'll say it again theres like nothing between them in terms of quality IMO. But surely for that reason you stick with the one whos just dug the best result of the season so far out? Surely JS has earned another start ?

What a professional. He has spent the best part of two years playing fvck all yet has kept himself in shape and mind sharp in case he was called on for a day like today. Wayne - nice guy though that he is - would not be anywhere near what was required today if he had been out to pasture for 24 months. And here is the problem, Wayne is nice. Goalkeepers cannot be nice.

If we were gonna upgrade from Jules we had to go for someone who was obviously better. Wayne isn't. The point I've been making from the day we signed him. It's an insult really.

Quote from the website. He's up for it. "I have been missing playing and especially taking part in games here at Selhurst with such a great atmosphere. I prepare every day in training to be ready to play and be available for the next game and hopefully I will get the chance to play the next game but I will wait and see."

When you say skills do you mean height? I've yet to witness this athleticism. Bang average keeper stealing a wage in the premier league and every manager that has come in has looked to replace him Speroni until Christmas and then we sign a first team keeper. Originally posted by crvenaeagle

What the hell are these people seeing in Wayne that the majority of us don't see!? I just don't get it. He is a very poor player who went down to league one with Wolves without anyone asking any questions until we foolishly signed him. That doesn't happen with any player that is even half decent let alone any good.

The Hennessey supporters seem to think this is a Speroni vs Hennessey debate. In my eyes Its purely about having a competant keeper between the sticks. Speroni had a steady game, distribution was ok and he didn't take any silly risks like throwing it to marked players. The goal was a point blank header, PVA clearly lost his man. You only had to see his save from the Batshuayi shot (which was called offside) that he still has the agility. Originally posted by Brentmiester_General

Come on boys, you can extend this one to 300 pages again!! Lets celebrate our first goals and points with more senseless whining, pointmaking and disallowing others their opinions!

do a spellcheck you brighton troll Ironically it was probably spellcheck that changed it . I am surprised that some did not realise who I was talking about, probably not Palace fans. I did not say Speroni played badly I was just posting for a bit of balance and fairness as on the Hennessey thread there would have been , we won in spite of the keeper , the keeper only did what was expected of him , just done his job , every time he plays people say he is great / world class etc.
