Sako is the interesting one. Apart from his 1st month here he has been a waste of space, virtually always injured and showing little appetite and a lack of all round fitness when he did play. Suddenly a few months before his contract runs out he looks fit and sharp as his Wolves days therefore i would keep him guessing so he keeps up his new found form and attitude to the end of the season

100% get rid of Sakho, even if he carries on this form till the end of the season he's been s*** the past 2 years. Playing for another big contract then back to old Sakho.

Currently we have ten players With contracts set to expire in the summer. Here is the list, according to sky sports.

Speroni
Delaney
Cabaye
McArthur
Hennessey
Sako
Ward
Kelly
Lee
Ladapo

How many should we resign?

Speroni would've saved it!

Speroni - good backup and a good person to have around
Delaney - time to say goodbye
Cabaye - I would say yes, but I think he will go back to France
McArthur - Yes
Hennessey - No. He's not proved capable as a first choice keeper and too many fans have turned on him. For his own sake I hope he leaves.
Sako - Tough. He needs to do more to prove he's worth a big salary again. He's only just showing promise again after years of injuries and being overweight and unfit
Ward - depends on our budget in the summer to replace him. Despite his resurgence I don't think he's quick enough as a full back.
Kelly - An ok stand in who has never really convinced me he should be first choice. Seems to play well so long as he's alongside someone who takes control of the back line. Not bothered either way.
Lee - has never taken the chances he's had to prove his worth and I can't see him wanting to stay.
Ladapo - pointless re-signing him given we wouldn't even play him when we had no strikers.

It all comes down to our budget for replacements, as a number of the above are not really first XI quality, but are ok as backup. Also, I think others like Lee and Kelly may want to look for more regular football, as neither is likely to be first choice here. Is Mutch not also out of contract in the summer?

Nope. Summer 2019 along with Punch & Pape.

how is everyone missing out the importance of Yohan Cabaye? We are a miles better team when he is in the side, not just for his ball retention and long-range passing skills, but his ability work hard, put tackles in and make interceptions!!

Ward, Cabaye, Macca and Sako for me

Th rest can go in the summer and we should seriously upgrade

Dont let Cabaye go

Why keep a player, although he has served us well, on the payroll when he is approaching 39. Hennessey is a lot younger and will be OK as a No 2. He is not that bad as people on here keep banging on about, his last three league games were Brighton A - clean sheet, Man City H - clean sheet, Soton A -just 1. 3 games - one goal against and 5 points.

I agree we're a better team with Cabaye, we should give him another year or two if he wants to stay (I somehow think he'll go back to end his career in France though)...

Simple, incentivise the player, offer a standard wage and then a bonus if he plays, bonus if he scores, that we he has the incentive to continue playing well and not just sitting on the bench. I remember Brolin, played well till he got a contract then was utter sh***. Contracts can work in the club s favour if you set them up right.

and it's goodnight from me.......

I think it works both ways to be honest. He started really well and then got injured. Yes, he has to take some of the blame for his fitness since then, but also as a club I don't think we helped him. Pardew in particular kept rushing him back and then he'd get injured again.

He actually looked ok at times last season, but for whatever reason didn't seem to fit into Big Sam's plans.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.
