Wasn't that because we had to beat hull and did?

Sometimes the fixtures and who's playing who comes into play, so that's why you aim for late 30's.

I agree we are far from relegated and we will almost certainly lose the next two games. However our optimism comes from the fact that we have had a tough spell and that the games will get easier and the team will become more cohesive. We will know more about our chances of survival from the 6 games following Chelsea.
We can all only hope and keep on supporting.

Agreed. I'm not defending Parish or any of the other decision makers, but the mistakes have been made spilt milk etc, Its what they do now that is important. Any supporter not up for the fight should man up.

Even if we went on a run now and won 6 on the spin , we would still be in the bottom 6 by end of December

We are far from relegated but it is fair to say that we are not doing our chances much good right now.
Improved performances against Man Utd and Chelsea regardless of the outcome will boost the players confidence but as the games slip by we are going to need to start winning games which otherwise we might have been happy with draws and in chasing games (if we even get ourselves into that position)we can just as easily lose them.
After the next two games our fixtures go as follows
Newcastle away - not easy at all
West Ham home - a bit of a bogey team for us
Spurs away - no chance
Everton and Stoke home - possible results
Brighton away - who knows
I would hope to see us with 9 points after those fixtures which means 9 from 14 games.
If we achieve that then we have a good chance as we will be on the up confidence wise - if we don't then I really fear for us because it will be poor results and no confidence.
Wilf coming back will be good for us - he will want to save us and that will give us confidence in itself.
We shall see.

Yes the order of fixtures is definitely a factor.

Regarding the Hull game, I recall that we had to 'not lose' to stay up, as we were 4 points ahead of them with two to play. We didn't have to win.

I just have a 'Feeling in my water' that we are going to pull off a shock somewhere and this will kick-start our season and lead to much improved results.

Perhaps I am being overly optimistic and taken leave of my senses !

I actually thought we played well against City in the first half. We looked like we had a game plan and we created a couple of opportunities.

I don't like the thought of moving Loftus-Cheek up top, he is quite clearly our most talented midfielder and seems to be the only player that can drive with the ball, create and take pressure off the defence since Zaha's been out. Putting him up top would just take him out the game.
