It is all about opinions but how can anyone defend Pardew at CPFC?
He took over an ailing side with potential and got the most out of them in his first half season - brilliant!
Instead of trying to build on that in his first full season he set about destroying it to pander to his own whims and fancies and for a while we were flying but it was house of cards which soon came tumbling down in spectacular fashion and in the second half of that season we took 11 points (I believe) from 19 games - a fact disguised by a great Cup run.
Even then - 8 minutes before the end of the game when we scored Pardew jigged instead of getting the players over, getting them to slow the game down and frustrate United - but no Pardew did a bloody jig - t*** - and we lost.
The next 19 games were more of the same and he was rightly sacked - 19 games too late!
Highlights that season were taking Jimmy Mac off five times when we are were either drawing or winning and we proceeded to lose points on every occasion.
The best one of course 1-1 with Utd at Palace with a few mins to go and he takes off a midfield player (Jimmy Mac from memory) and subs him with a forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We lost!
He is a joke Manager and we are well rid but his transfer policy lives on and is still giving us grief today!

That's a pretty decent summing up. Our problem is that, when we start to look good, something or someone conspires to fcuk if up. Pulis does a decent job, falls out with the Chairman, and Warnock finds himself out of his depth. Pardew does a brilliant job and then manages to fcuk himself up. Allardyce does a great job, then leaves unexpectedly, but do we build on that, do we hell, instead we get de Boer to fcuk it up in record time. It's always one step forward and two back with us.

This time last year we were 8th on 7pts after five games under Pards after beating Stoke 4-1.

You're as bad as Croydonlad for trying to force your opinions down everyone's throats at every given opportunity. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't just based on speculation and guesswork

Again you read something you don't line or agree with and throw in guesswork. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Oh no, someone replied about 2 managers clearly better and better suited than Frank, and fresher than the impact manager in Pardew who sacks Garner, recruits John Salako, ignores fitness and defending, oh and a 2nd LB or replacements for players he shifts on. Nobody can do that. What to do? Throw in guesswork, that's what.

My post has some substance, you don't like and you reply with guesswork. Nice one.

Pardew did respect points more than Frank showed, sure. But he didn't respect one point. Part of his problem was he got himself caught up in trying to cover losses with wins over and over, when some of those could easily have been draws. The more it happened, the more he hoped we'd win. When we got to 5th, some of those games were close and I remember thinking it was great he went for the win. Shows how much those managers who've been around in the prem for years know. Those quiet draws you never notice on the results or highlights hold a lot of value.
