I shall follow saturdays match as always on the matchday thread here , and on the rolling bbc live updates. It will be interesting to read the reaction on here, as we again revert to type, DNA , identity or whatever you want to call it, as the first of many long balls are pumped aimlessly in the general direction of our one forward. I can't wait....

Whether or not you think that is right. I stand by my point that is humiliation and a shambolic way to of acted sacking a manager after 4 games. Whatever would've happened beyond is just a guess bt 4 games is absolutely no time to implement anything whatsoever. That group of players couldn't even get the hang of Allardyce "pragmatic" tactics after 4 games so that pretty much tells you everything you need to know. He wasn't given a fair crack at the whip and people tryna justify it with "the players thought he was weird" "Damo didn't like the fact that one of the best centre halves of all time told him about how to be a better centre half" are having a laugh. Anyway we are where we are, but it's just annoying that people who were so toxic about the club trying to look long term for once and having a vision etc. And writing managers off before the season started or even after 4 games are now telling everyone "you must be happy about Roy". I agree it's been shambolic and Parish and players are still not guilt free. But if anyone says they feel sorry for Frank needs to look at what he said and what he did. This is a multi million pound sport and business, not to be played with. It's those who won't look beyond 'its 3 games' who cannot understand, or don't want to. Even Jason Cundy changed his mind from Monday nights 'The person who made decision to hire Frank should be sacked' to Tuesdays 'It sounds like Frank really wasn't getting on with people and it sounded like it was for the best and likely to happen anyway.' If Frank doesn't know yet in life you need cooperation and people you may not want or like to deliver some of what you need until you can get those who can then he either never will or will have to drop down to try it or learn again that that is how you conduct yourself. I'm not happy about Roy but it should deliver enough at least. What I'm more concerned about is what are we doing about future departures and right now only 1 striker. As far as Frank goes I don't feel sorry for him whatsoever. Had his chance, thought he could do whatever he liked.

Nope, I've been vocal in my support for Parish pretty much unconditionally but I personally think the way he's acted has been shambolic and it's given me a new perspective on him and I think he has completely run out of ideas and his twitter outburst was a joke. Thought he could pull the wool over Palace fans eyes knowing full well he's about to sack a manager. Now you're just making stupid assumptions because I'm not bowing down and worshipping Parish and Hodgson. Agree. But the shambles started with hiring him. It was a coin toss at best, along with 1 left back, striker, keeper.... We're going to need a lot of luck over the next 2 years with injuries and ins and outs so he'd better have irons in the fire on new players or it's going to get really messy. But he's hired Freedman ffs.

As i think i said fairly clearly, i will be interested in the reaction of posters on here, particularly after the criticism of FdB and all the posts about our identity etc. Obviously if i cant physically watch it the actual style of play makes little difference to me as long as (hopefully) we win.

Stop trying to fool us Roy. You've repeatedly claimed you only lost 7 games in charge of England. I've just looked it up and it is 9 (including penalty shoot-out defeat to Italy in Euro 2012).

yes is that too much to ask, did eating a bit of humble pie showing humility ever hurt anyone? Haven't heard any of the players "who couldn't control a ball" eat humble pie and apologise. As usual they let the coach/manager take all the flack

I dont know how I feel at the moment, I'm quite confused with the direction the club is taking, the lack of a vision, foresight etc. What good does moaning do? He is here now so let's give the guy a chance

Every manager that has taken over England have failed. Even RObson got lucky with the draw in 1990 and we rode our luck until it finally ran out. The same can be said for 1996. As for the golden age they clearly weren't as good as the media bigged them up to be. Clearly Roy is not alone when it comes to managing then England team. Edited by Bexley Eagle (13 Sep 2017 9.33pm)

As far as Frank goes I don't feel sorry for him whatsoever. Had his chance, thought he could do whatever he liked. No one knows what happens behind closed doors and it winds me up that every time a manager is sacked/a player wants to leave etc etc. Everyone pipes up with an imaginary version of the events, usually a version of fabricated s*** originating from the Daily Mail or the Sun. It's never our fault is it Rudi? Always someone else's, all Franks fault. "Too cold" "too weird" "showing off". To me it just appears that the players have a poor attitude and need to have a long hard look at themselves tbh if the reports are true. They didn't have to like Frank, but he's been hired to do a job and they are obscenely paid footballers who should apply themselves and carry out what is being expected of them from the gaffer for a lot longer than 4 games. We can say what we want about "behind closed doors" but no one knows what went on and what has just happened wouldn't of happened at any other club (and I know that because it's the shortest premier league reign in history). It's no coincidence that Frank de Boer came to Palace and left with that on his CV & for me it's a much bigger reflection on us as a club than it is him as a manager. I know people will be quick to tell me "I don't want to see" or whatever but I think in the footballing world in general you're massively in the minority and if this were to happen at Sunderland/Villa/Newcastle etc. I'd be looking on with the exact same contempt. Prime and extreme example of everything that's wrong with English football in 2017.
