So a kid starting from the start wouldn't feel pressure? Lumeka played well, but them being so deep helps. How many kids get thrown in for full games anyway? Usually drip fed in. That back pass was a freak mistake, on top of freak mistake of Kelly's de Boer impression v Swansea. If we had 4 points those wouldn't matter so much. Frank made the error in not getting points with a strong line up played out of position. He made mistakes now player mistakes are adding to his own.

Point is, Frank probably assessed the youngsters and thought perhaps they didn't look like they could cover the intensity required, whereas Lee possibly in training, looked to be able to do so. Loftus apparently weren't quite there as same with Sakho, so that's why they didn't play. As for Milo, our Serbian, he apparently played two international games recently and was quite likely, knackered. So with all that in mind, aside from possibly PVA playing there, or at LB and Schlupp playing there, this was one of the only scenario's Frank had at his disposal. Playing well and creating a few openings and a couple of good tackles is not enough for Franks vision, which I can see now, he's implementing a proper unit, its all of a sudden obvious to me, a real team with hardly any one play to carry us through, and that's how the best teams play. Yes Zaha will always be our talisman, but that's because he truly is a special player, but Frank is creating a system, and I hope you can see it after today, whereby hopefully in a few months, if one player gets injured, another can instantly sit in for him and know what he has to do. Very much like watching Leicester for me, all working for one another and knowing fully well what eachs responsibly was. It was refreshing, absolutely refreshing to see. At least give Chungy credit for the quality of the pass - best offensive Palace-pass all season...

Seemingly Milivojevic played 90 minutes against Ireland but wasn't named in the squad for the Moldova game.

If you want better then look for Jeff Hopkins own goal at 0-0 v Millwall at Selhurst in 89-90 season in our first season back in the top division. I was in line with him when he did it. Game ended 4-3 to us. Their goal by Steve Anthrobus was good too. A player never to be seen again. Bright was the bollox that day if I remember correctly.

Maybe there's an issue then. Well, Moldova was the first match, don't know why he wasn't picked. I didn't see the Ireland game but he played the whole match and there's no mention in dispatches of his getting a knock. So I'm baffled. If de Boer thinks he's no good and Lee and Puncheon are then we have a problem and lots of iffy selections and substitutions to look forward to.

If that is the case and we never see a strongest 11 when available and a strong 11 all in position then that would be reason for me to fire him.

Lee should never play again, he spat the dummy when Pardew didn't play him and this is his response. Looks like Pards was right for once. He runs around like a chook with his head cut off ineffective and lightweight. Give him to Bolton.

A lot like Punch then - and i must say, Townsend to a certain degree (esp. when he is chasing the ball).

Luka's been poor this season, and PVA was rightly dropped too. Do you think Luka should have been kept in with Cabaye moving to the left? With Zaha, RLC, Tompkins, and Sako all out, who should have come in on the left? Cabaye for Luka made sense, and we looked hugely better with him and McArthur. I can't wait to see RLC link up with those two, along with Zaha back, and Sahko in defense. Players like Lee, Sako, Mutch, etc., are a huge part of the problem at the club. They eat up wages but are not good enough for this level. However, we have no choice but to include them in the squad and to use them as cover for injuries or bad form. That comes down to poor long term planning. SP has said as much, and to be fair to him, has largely not made the same mistakes. Unfortunately, these mistakes last several seasons.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |
