We don't know that he was the last man standing. We don't actually know how the whole appointment thing played out behind the scenes.

I refuse to believe that parish didn't realize that our best spells in the prem have been playing the pulls type of football. I can't imagine he was the main advocate of De boer's appointment. I don't think it's either of their faults

I don't think it's either of their faults But the problem is whether that's sustainable. We've had a couple of years where we've stayed up because we've taken points off the top six, but failed to beat those around us. In the long term, that weakness in beating the likes of Swansea, Bournemouth etc has to be addressed. We can't assume we're going to go to Stamford Bridge and won every year, or that we'll take apart Arsenal like that again.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Mark Langdon, football chief journo for the Racing Post and frequently on Talksport giving the international overview, wrote in yesterday's post blaming the board - you can't pull the plug on a long term project after 270 minutes he was saying, and the real blame for the situation is at board not managerial level. A lot of is down to luck though, nobody could foresee Big Sam going, Parrish has got the right idea about relating security/stability in the prem with getting our possession stats nearer 40% than 30%, may have chosen the wrong man to implement the vision - certainly there have been glaring errors with tactics and personnel whose failures were easy to predict and they then did fail. I think De Boer should have seen 3-4-3 had to be introduced slowly not as a six week shock at all playing levels, he learnt the wrong lessons from his time at Inter and what he has to do is realise he has to learn very fast how to win games in the prem, 3-4-3 can wait, and not for too long, I'd say we just need to improve and the 'next level', a phrase which usually introduces a level down, will look after itself.

Not after three games it doesn't. What it does say is that Watford (after four games) and Huddersfield haven't lost and score goals, and there's nothing like a good start to boost the confidence of a team. Our start is the polar opposite and there's nothing like that to sap the confidence from a team. We're already on the back foot going into game four.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

We're becoming a laughing stock. we already are, lets hope your right and things improve but after a loss today cannot see us getting anything from Man U and Man C away, that just leaves Southampton who were beating by Watford yesterday at home so if we were to lose that one then we would be into October with zero points!

He's a decorated manager as well. Different people have different opinions about how much of an achievement his titles with Ajax are. It's like saying Pep's titles with Bayern are a big achievement when there wasn't a team to come close to them in the German league. I get that you can only beat who is in front of you but if you are far and away the best team in the league how much of an achievement is it? Some Dutch football experts (or people who report on it) say Ajax were head and shoulders above anyone else with the best players and best youth players yet he only managed to win the leagues. They say his last 2 seasons were dire and they played awful football. Other people say the complete opposite though I have yet to hear someone who proclaims to be an expert say he achieved anything special just more of a statistical note. Steve McLaren won the Dutch league yet that doesn't follow him as something to be shouted about. But as I said, you can only beat what's in front of you.

Yeah but it was the parent company's mismanagement and administration which meant the whole enterprise went into admin because the club was tied to it it had to follow. It wasn't anything to do with Southampton fc being badly managed. They've been impressive the whole time. And remember they bought Jose Fonte from us when we were in the championship and they were in league 1. It didn't stop there. I totally accept what you say. My point was more that they were in League 1 and in administration with a 10 point deduction when we were in the Championship. Plus they had Pardew as manager. Without going off to look, did they buy Clyne when they went into the Premier League or before? I recall it was 2012 so I guess it was just after they got promoted.
