I’ll be in the minority but if de Boer goes, I think Hodgson would be alright. His age is a worry and we would be a bit of a laughing stock for a while but all that would die down once we get a few results. I do think he would steady the ship. If we sack FdB early in the season, it will be a disaster and we’ll be in a very weak position. I really doubt we would get someone better that Roy.

Roy Hodgson would never have openly stated he wanted the job at our club given that he is very professional and erudite and would not say that with a manager already in situ. It appears he was asked a general question about whether it was felt he could manage again at the top level and he answered in ther affirmative making it crystal clear that he felt he had another PL job in him even though he is advanced in years.Message from him was that he wasn't finished yet.Somehow it is being said he has touted to be our next manager ! I reckon he asked a nurse from the home he is currently residing in to send out a message on his behalf she put it out on twitter! Edited by Willo (06 Sep 2017 10.27am)

Interesting read from September. "If we sack FDB after 3 games and get Hodgson, we'll be a total laughing stock." True, but not after 6 months.
“ [T]here are known knowns; there are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns; that is to say there are things that, we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns – there are things we do not know we don't know. ” |

Great read and I did a similar thing looking through the old ‘new manager thread’ to all happy comments when FdB singed and how Parish was criticised for letting Pellagrino choose Southampton. It’s a good thing Parish does not read back and go “ha ha I told you so” I must admit, it was pretty embarrassing those first few weeks l, but talking to Southampton and stoke fans, they just wish their chairman would have acted sooner

I have no desire to see Benteke taking corners, thank you very much. I hope de Boer can get his s*** together because none of the alternatives are very attractive. Freedman or Woy? FFS. Actually of course we'd probably end up with both. Edited by chateauferret (05 Sep 2017 1.02am) I hope you will all join me in apologising for the utter bollocks we all posted on here eight months ago and recognise an achievement in football management of no common order.

I'll freely admit after Big Sam left I qs hoping we would get in an up and coming prospect, young with fresh ideas, forward thinking who would see Palace as a desirable chance to make a name for themselves. I felt Pelligrino and Marco Silva were real contenders and Toy felt underwhelming when his name came up in the discussion. I will put my hands up and admit I couldn't have been more wrong. I do feel a bit cheated by FdB in that he promised a gradual evolution of our playing style but this is not what he delivered. I hope Roy stays for a few years. A radical thought would be to get a young manager, maybe from the lower leagues and offer him assistant manager role to learn from Roy, mold him into our way of doong things. Even more tadical would be to tben 'loan' him out to a lower league club as there manger. Wonder what the rules are on this sort of practice?
