Sorry I thought the point of being an affiliated fan was about community and togetherness??? I missed the memo where it was changed and is now about moaning like a be-atch all the time. Being a fan about community and togetherness? I suppose there are elements of that but I think you are missing the point of being a football fan entirely. To be fair may just be my opinion but football gives me something to focus on asides from my natural routines of life. It also provides a platform for me to helpfully express my emotions in a society where it is sometimes not so safe, be that through swearing at a referee or opposition fans or crying tears of joy and cheering deliriously. Suppose it depends where you sit in the ground? Moaning like a "be-atch" - that is a weird comment, makes me wonder who you are and even then I can't paint that picture.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I believe that SP is evolving. The second half of last season had him standing back to let the Manager get on with the football. This season we have an earlier start with FdB in place saying that youth needs its chance. The spine of the first team is in place - with rotation possible for some positions and chances to come through into potential striker and goalkeeper roles for our young players. I am looking forward to seeing a team that is accustomed to playing together (all window signings have had PL with Palace playing time) showing its capability. COYP

A forum doesn't work unless different opinions are offered and for that reason I try and respect everyone's and whilst I'll disagree with some I'll never revert to some of the personal abuse people throw around on here. Is Parish perfect? No. Does he have the best interests of the club whilst rightly not blindly throwing money around that will bankrupt himself and the club? Yes. We need to take a look at ourselves and wonder if e would prefer a Mike Ashley for example - we are lucky to have the people in place that we have and we would do well not to forget that. If you could turn back time and be offered the 6/7 seasons we've had to any supporter, I bet not a single one would have turned it down. Expectations have changed granted but we'd all do well to remember that so have that of every other club every season, it cant work 100% of the time for everyone. And in regards to transfers, none of us know what goes on in the background of one of the most complex things in football, for all we know we targeted every single one of the players mentioned and were blocked by impossible things. People on here expect savvy businessmen to throw money around like its paper, giving in to every demand of every agent and hanger on involved in the process. We are all supporters including the board but I'm betting you wouldn't throw an entire paycheck at something without carefully thinking it through. And for Christ sakes please stop booing at games, it offers nothing positive to a team that is already of fragile confidence. Remember the cauldron we created to greet Arsenal, broke their spirit before the game even started.

Yes, SP has been a great chairman and saved the club (for a modest investment with 3 other very rich people). But surely that must now be considered done and dusted. In my view the credit from that has expired. In looking at more recent events, two managers a season is becoming the norm. Why do SP's appointments just not seem to work out? He is the common denominator. When Pardew was sacked we were told it was time to "wind back the clock" and say goodbye to expansive football. After a shaky start under Sam, we became harder to beat and spanked Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Safety was achieved and we could look forward to a new season of consolidation and growth without relegation worries. Sam leaves (it's seems not SP's fault but on his watch). After weeks of humming and haahing, SP appoints FDB who is new to the premiership and clearly wants to completely change the way we play. I can only assume with the blessing of SP. This style of play failed under Pardew and he had the the benefit of years of premiership experience. We don't know what assurances FDB was given about new signings. Now here we are, just into September, with no points, no goals scored, a very unpopular manager, a modest transfer window and many disgruntled fans. SP was the front man of the group that saved Palace and we will always be grateful. But a lot of bad things have happened on his watch. If he didn't have previous credit in the bank, he would be getting a lot more stick than he is now. I don't doubt that he is Palace through and through. But I do now doubt his ability to run the business side of the club and appoint and deal effectively with managers and oversee player recruitment. As a small club, in premiership terms, we need to be at our very best and sharpest in managerial and player recruitment. Perhaps SP would be better suited to be Chief Financial Officer and concentrate on income generation, budgets and marketing? Maybe the recruitment of Doogie is a subtle move in that direction. I don't believe in witch hunts and personal abuse. But it is not unreasonable, or disloyal, to hold any chairman to account irrespective of their previous achievements. Credit for saving the club expired? You what? Edited by Dangermouse (01 Sep 2017 10.21am)

Trouble is that is tip the board over and start crying. Doing what you think is right is not good enough at this level, we need someone who is GOOD at what they do. The appointment of FDB is an absolute clanger, except if he was backed with transfers, he has not been backed with transfers. We have 1 fit striker who can play at this level. We haven't signed a goalie, how on earth have we not signed a goalie, its incredible. We have no transfer strategy, we treat transfers like its the first time we are doing it, every time, time and again. Its not good enough at this level.

Remember the cauldron we created to greet Arsenal, broke their spirit before the game even started. Exactly! If you were to go onto pretty much every premier league club's forums right now, those fans who are inclined to moan will be having a field day, while those who are more realistic will probably not. All clubs have tried to improve their squads, very few (not even City or Chelsea) will have got all the players they wanted. SP has done pretty much as well as he could, and the squad is clearly much improved. Yes, we are short in one or two areas, but every squad could be improved if the clubs are prepared to throw money at the problem with no regard for anything else. If you can't see that 3 out of the 4 players that have come in are improvements on what we had (I'll reserve my opinion of Riederwald until he's played around 10 games) then you really are a "glass half empty" person. Not a perfect window by any means, but not a reason to string Parish up by his balls either!
