Coming to Selhurst Park for this tomorrow night, hope it's an entertaining game, no offence but I'm hoping to take a victory from this and a place in the next round.

Thing is, it's not going to happen. McCarthy is going to utilize a team full of kids and totally different from a league fixture, so looks like you'll be going through instead of ourselves. Ok we've won four league games and are second in the league and beat Luton in the previous round but it hasn't been that straight forward.

Rode our luck on occasion and while we've got a few first teamers out with injury, the opposition usually amount more chances and possession over the course of a game regardless of whether we win lose or draw.

Thinking of moving to South East London actually - past few weeks we've been to Charlton Athletic and Millwall - one brought a 1 - 6 defeat, the other a 4 - 3 away win.. Think i'll get value for money inside the ground tomorrow, it should be a good trip.

Ipswich are making 11 changes and are playing all kids. If we don't win this one we are a joke.

Franks on a hiding to nothing. If he plays a full team and someone picks up a knock , he will get slaughtered. If we play the reserves he will get slaughtered for not using it as a game to try the first team in his new system.
If he plays the first team and we win, it will be said that it was expected. If we win but then draw/ lose to Swansea, it will be because he played too many or too few first teamers.
If we was to smash them, it will be said that the game didn't matter anyway and why can't we do that in the league.
If we lose , it will be a disgrace.
He could right do without this game.
I think if he made a press release saying that it will be puncheons last game (as Sakho is being paraded on the pitch as our new captain) and Its doubling up as JPs testimonial, with free beer and lap dances for OAPs from the Crystals. He might receive a tiny applause.

Put the kids out, if we win put the kids out in the next round too. The kids get to play some higher profile games (albeit not much higher profile) and we don't knacker anyone for the league. Any kids that shine look like FdB might give them bench spots in the league too.

This was the line up for u23's yesterday. I wouldn't expect any of these to feature

In some ways that's a shame, but also quite pleased I won't be watching Jordan Mutch tonight.

Far be it for me to suggest to FDB which team he should pick.

Maybe a factor that might enter the equation is the possible jettisoning of players to release funds. Will he want to risk such players when they could pick up an injury and will then not be able to be sold ?

Maybe players not in the above category who haven't featured much will be given valuable game time.'Bigger picture' scenario.

Agree, heading off to selhurst later. Surprised that all the strikers played for u23's so does that mean Benteke plays again.

This really should be a strong enough team to beat Ipswich reserves and gives some players game time (for various reasons)...

Speroni

Kelly---Tomkins---Delaney

Jimmy Mac----Luka

Lokilo----Punch----Lee

Kai Kai/Anderson/Ladapo (two out of these)

Have Bentenke on the bench if we're toothless and give Cabaye some game time. Keep Punch in as a mentor for the youngens

Playing straight down the middle with no wingers or wing backs?

I hope FDB plays the kids to see if they are up for the challenge ... then if we win its a bonus ... but playing time is what they need and then he can assess if we need to but any more players or they are good enough to get into the first team.
Two nil win to the Palace.
