I can see your point on the money spent on players But if you take into account over the past couple of years the players we have sold Balasie, Macarthy, Gayle, Murrey,Mandanda and a few others. our overall spend on players is relatively low for a prem club

Sorry we spent about £10 mil last summer and £30 mil plus £10 mil add one in January so we've dipped about 25% into thus season's transfer funds. Wages are a problem. If we didn't have wastes of space in the squad it'd be better.

Its amazing to read on here how easy it must be to run a Premiership football club judging by some of the comments!

I mean you only have to select the finest players at rock bottom prices knowing their values will only skyrocket in value. How hard can that be?

They will be playing under your special personally selected manager (nobody on your management shortlist would ever turn you down or fail to return your call surely?)
The team will only do well results are positive and will continue to be so!
Agents never stop ringing and players will always be willing to come to South London and play for Palace due to the fantastic location, opportunities and current facilities!

I for one am a realist it must be bloody hard work trying to keep a club like Palace running, healthy and also within the Premier League Short Term Cost Control Rules.

Sure there have been a couple of subsequently poor purchases that carry high wages we would rather rid of.
Also current problems like the training ground and Sainsburys not playing ball but there have also been good news recently like the new shirt and sleeve sponsorship deals which did pull in £6-7m.
However I believe SP and the board will get on with the business of football and make sure we are still in the premiership next season. Parish likes to play his cards close to his chest.
Its still a long way until next May!

Your on the wrong site!

This is only for people who have wildly unrealistic expectations. It is generally thought it is a simple role running a club like ours. Just endlessly buy players and sack managers after 2 loses and expect to get a better one by the next game, as there are lots of managers that can do better.

Parish is saying we need to sell to buy and hoping for 3 more players (very unlikely).

Why have we not got any money from American investors, Chinese sponsors and £100+ million TV dosh?

We have a thin squad with no PL quality goalie & one striker, and let alone needing PL quality in other positions, we have a manager whose footballing philosophy has produced one shot on target and no goals in 2 games and us plating up goals for opposing teams!

As many of you will know supporting Palace is not and has never been a choice for me, my season ticket is a given. So can someone offer me something in my despair that Parish may have just murdered our season and PL status other than blind and delusional optimism?

That's not actually what he said though is it. His words:

"In a perfect world probably three [new players], it's just whether we can stretch financially to do that, there's probably some we need to get out too."

To me that says we have 3 targets and a budget which is hopefully enough but might have to offload some to make it work, especially regarding wage bills & FFP.

It's getting pretty boring watching folk looking to make a negative about every little thing the Club, the players or the staff do (or don't do).

take that bit in bold as an example tho...the main shirt & sleeve sponsorship just about covers bentekkers wages for 1 season, thats the scary part...people see loads money from spinsorship but dont realise where it comes from.

lets get realistic in how we think

Do love the people on here who think they can provide an exact analysis of the maths, those who want to compare our position now contextually against the history of the club or best of all the absolute f***ing muggy do gooders who think they have some moral high ground for speaking out against anyone raising a concern - my feelings for you people are visceral.

Would like to highlight that my original point if you read properly or to be fair maybe misinterpreted, was to ask if anyone had any positives for me as believe it or not I will still drink out of my selhurst mug at work, attend all home and some away games and keep the home shirt hanging from my wall at home.

I just feel as though the situation is pretty dire currently, I struggle to see where the optimism or hope can be justified (thin, non PL quality squad with a lack of transfer activity, bizarre tactics etc.) I thought maybe I hadn't taken something into consideration.

You haven't. We've got a very sought after young manager who wants to change the DNA of the club for the better and is just finding his feet still. The transfer window doesn't shut for another ten days.

In response do Brentmaster, I did mention earlier my despair (suggesting perhaps some irrationality), but a manager trying to change the DNA of a club which barely survived due to loaning a world class CB and playing to its strengths (or 'DNA') by employing tactics almost directly against this, without that player and relying on us apparently signing a number of players in the next 10 days with no real evidence of that happening doesn't really help.

Still very concerned
