Thing to remember there is that SP and the rest of CP2010 are fans. This meaning that they will think like the rest of us about things like this. Meaning that (hopefully) they would only see this happen over their dead bodies.

The club is controlled by the American investors who are not fans and even SP is a businessman first and foremost and a fan second.

If they had an offer of £200m from a credible source I'm sure that all would sell up whether fans or not.

Somehow I doubt whether this particular offer passes the credible test though

I heard that the US guys have exited and new investors have come in instead with SP and co reducing their percentage holding slightly. Not a reliable source.

If true I can't see this changing much other than maybe more cash into the club from the investors (in the form of shareholder loans from the new investors).

Things like this don't just come out of the blue, it would have been known for some time and before our latest managerial appointment. SP is a good businessman but also a fan, no reason he can't make money and still look out for the clubs best interests.

They will definitely sell if the right offer is made from the right person/people. This is the second sale rumour in as many weeks and all the signs are there if people choose to acknowledge them. The continual stalling on any major work to the infrastructure and the restrictions on spending in this transfer window are good indications that not too much more money is going to be put into the club. I agree with you that this particular story fails the credibility test though.

I'm not sure that I can see where you've got that from.

This cannot be true.

You are right should have said and I didn't mean to write it as a statement of fact either - I had heard this is what has happened from a guy I work with in the city - he is not always completely reliable, but does work on the legal side of football deals (although not on this purported deal to be clear).

Fair enough. It's not an implausible scenario by any means, but it would certainly be front-page news if it was announced.

There is no way that FdB would have came here if he knew the club was about to be sold. It would have left his plans in limbo and his job in jeopardy

Nothing in football is a surprise anymore, it's now big business and attracts interest from people hoping to jump on the bandwagon.
The old days are long gone, the Americans bought us to make money, simple. Unfortunately SP only holds 18% share, so it is out of his hands to a certain extent.
Many clubs have been sold to foreign investors in recent years, some have prospered and some have been bleed dry.
There is nothing as fans we can do, just hope it doesn't happen.

I presume that he'd be expected to be part of the brave new future; established in the PL with an academy that could properly feed into the team. I wouldn't think that appointing FdB and a change of ownership are mutually exclusive and,in fact, many buyers would probably view his appointment as a plus.
