When Southampton eventually sell Van Dyke who do you think they will go after to replace him? Well they've had every opportunity to get sakho in the partial swap deal for around a month now, and it hasn't occurred. Wonder why? They're probably not interested in Sakho. Probaby due to salary, not sure Southampton pay 100k pw wages like we do?

I wouldn't sell Townsend. I know he's been played at wing back in the friendlies, but lets face it he's an attacking winger and if we get a knock to Zaha that's us screwed if Townsends gone. Besides, if we are playing 3-4-3 I would personally have the front 3 as Zaha, Townsend and Benteke rather than keep using him at wing back.

I'd keep him up to £25M. But if that happened, can you imagine buying back Bolasie??

There may well be outs as well as ins, but the two sales which if they went ahead would damage Palace most would be Townsend and Cabaye. Sideways move at best for Townsend re: Stoke. Andros had an inconsistent season last year whilst also showing moments of absolute brilliance. Given that he is virtually guaranteed regular first-team action, he is probably best building upon performance levels with us and with the chance that a top Premiership club may fish for him in 12 months time and at a much higher valuation as befitting his true potential.

Unless we get another attacking winger to replace him I can't see the point in selling other than wages. But again we'd have to replace him and get another striker. However maybe there thinking they can get someone who can play across the front three for his money on less wages rather than an out and out winger.

Why? There isn't exactly a queue of managers looking to sign him & his current boss has essentially ignored him for a year. He was fantastic for us last season. Myself and most people on here would have him back at Selhurst tomorrow.

Perhaps he's just forgotten how to do it then, or your mate is just trying to make you feel better? Frankly I'm surprised any Spurs supporter can remember much about him as he started so few PL games and spent so long out on loan. Possibly but as I haven't seen any of the friendlies then I don't have much of an opinion on his ability as a RWB. Generally I thought he was defensively very good in the second half of last season

I don't think AT's getting the credit from some for just how good he was towards the end of last season. He's looked decent in pre-season too, albeit in an unfamiliar role. It seems odd that we've changed the system when we had a settled front 3 at the end of last season that was just about as good as any in the league. the only way i could see anything in this is if he's not happy playing the RWB role and if FdB is willing to sell. Even then, I think it would have to be significantly higher than 15m and we'd be losing a key, versatile player who we'll struggle to replace. Originally posted by Goldfiinger

He's a upper tier premisership level player and we've been lucky to have him. IMO and I'll be happy to be wrong but I don't think he's a wing back and don't see why we wouldn't play him as the third forward. That being said... if we're in for another forward and that'd mean Townsend on the bench or wing back roll. I think he'll unfortunately be unsettled. So really I guess it depends on where the manager wants to play him and if he's planning on being different forward in. Wing back or sub I don't think would be right. And only in that instance would I dream of letting him go. IF he's to move on.. then surely the natural fit is for him to go Newcastle? Are they still looking for a wide player? Maybe a bidding war? IF we want to sell him. Again stressing I'm not saying I want to sell him.

Townsend has been great since Sammy Lee has been with us. The reason is, as I understand it, they had a chat and SL told him he expected the same performances as he gave when playing for England. SL is having a fantastic impact on our players and long may it continue. We are lucky to have Townsend and can't see us wanting to sell him. Edited by premier fan (03 Aug 2017 6.14pm)

Ok my gonna put my neck out there... IF we can get £20m for Townsend and then spend it on: George can der Wiel £5m Personally I think that's good buisness and improves the squad. Not saying either are better than Townsend and by no means would I be sad to see him STAY. But selling one to buy two might make sense and make us stronger. I definitely rather have all three. But selling one to buy two may mean we have our kitty left for a big huge warrior of a defender.

Agree we should be looking for at least £20m for AT, that he works well in a front 3 with Ben and Wilf, and that he will only get better as other posters have said. Even at 20 we should only sell if he really wants to go. I think he will get better under Frank and will probably end up with a peak value of £30m. No way does it make sense to sell.
