I presume ? Have a look back at the new manager thread and you'll see that Dyche was the last person I wanted us to employ. It took us three years to sign a striker worthy of the name and we now have one that scored 15 goals in a largely poor season. IF de Boer doesn't rate that then he'd clearly be insane. We can always get another manager, we've had a shed load of them, but signing another quality striker, in this market, with half the clubs in the PL trying to do the same, and with our limited funds, would leave us in the cack.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I think a big part of his stalled development was due to the fact too many managers were trying to discipline his game as an out and out wide right winger. It's a bit like playing Neymar on the right, he'd be much more ineffective. I think this is the season where we will finally see Wilf given the freedom he should of always had to really express himself and I'm excited at the prospect.

It is sad that you have such little value in his decisions. For a person that has achieved so much in his own life alone to then ply his experience where he has proven consistency in motivating footballers to their best. On the sole grounds that he has no experience in the English premier league. Please point me to a manager in the EPL to even match his player credentials. Currently, in the EPL there are plenty of great and successful African players who never played in the EPL before. Yet there is no league in Africa comparable to our league. IMHO there are more good footballers available than alone in the EPL than finding a real old school Football manager like FDB. Also, we got Tekkers on the cheap cos Klop did not want him. Currently, Nasri is not wanted by Man C and have no plans for him. We just need patience and there will be others. If you don't have that .. you may need to consult a doctor. all the best COYP

Although bexleydave is more than capable of replying himself I think that you have misunderstood his response by ignoring that all important word "if" as bd was replying to a specific point that FdB might not play Benteke in his natural position.

I imagine you to be like the Self Righteous Brothers out of Harry Enfield, Bexley. Getting wound up over things that aren't even there. Oi De Boer.....NO! I will not have you come into our football club and not rate Christian Benteke!

Hear me out. With Riedewald played at LCB he can certainly hit the long diagonals to a player playing on the right side of a front three. Juventus use Mandzukic as a sort of wide target man where he can move onto defenders and midfielders smaller than him and more easily hit knock downs to Higuain. Mandzukic may be more willing than Benteke to do the dirty work but Benteke is more gifted on the floor than Mandzukic and is ok doing a pressing role. You'd assume we are looking for another striker, someone like Van Persie or a similar poacher could work in the same team as Benteke. De Boer seems intent on playing Zaha as the left sided wide forward but not settled on the right-sided one yet, with Townsend played as the right midfielder in both pre-season matches so far. Anyway, just a thought. Could be worth a try in pre-season, could work, could look horrendous but then that's what pre-season is for; trying new things. In think Riedewald could have some joy finding Benteke in wide positions, letting us get up the pitch quicker. If not Benteke then Wickham could be used like this, he's played on the wing for Sunderland before. You should change your username to Madness 4 Palace!

Mandzukic is known for his workrate, whereas Benteke hardly runs the channels. How has this suggestion got so many replies.
