WIlf got tons and tons of free kicks last season and he will again this season. The difference will be the positions of those free kicks, Wilf is gonna be playing higher up the pitch and that'll mean the free kicks / pens will be far more valuable..

We'll also remember this comment and when he doesn't get a serious injury blatently caused by another player, you'll be reminded of it. Is that the royal "we"? And why are "we" looking forward to Wilf getting injured so that "we" can come back here and score points of another poster? If Wilf goes the whole season without getting injured by an opposition player's foul play, that does not mean there is no such foul play.

Just heard that United and Liverpool fans were racist to him after today's game, calling him a 'black monkey' and other things. I doubt they are "fans" probably just idiots who associate themselves with the big clubs. It sounds like the sort of normal (for them) nonsense practiced by some retards on social media ... hardly worth taking notice of but just being aware that such people exist. It it wasn't aimed at Wilf it would be done to someone else equally undeserving.

That's the reality with top players - they suffer lots bad tackles. Zaha has a reputation as a diver he needs to keep his feet and curb his temper then he will be truly a top player. If he does have such a reputation then it is 100% unfounded! [Link] The fact that he's the most fouled player in the Prem and yet given virtually no protection by the officials is disgraceful and is a direct cause of his occassional loss of temper. In the light of the treatment he gets I think he's incredible! Edited by sa_eagle (24 Jul 2017 12.49pm)
Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

Coincidence, but FdB has been quoted today as saying Wilf is our version of Neymar. Neymar is the most fouled player in La Liga & has been for a while. I'm trying to find an article I read on this a while back which showed how his speed and quick feet meant that referees just didn't see many of the fouls on him. This led to a 'diving' reputation which exacerbated the problem & it was only after a formal case with lots of video evidence was put forward by FCB that he started getting any kind of protection. In the modern game this really shouldn't be needed but officials & pundits alike seem to be more swayed by reputation than fact much of the time.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Are you telling me Neymar is not a diver? We must not have the same player in mind ....... Originally posted by Nobbybm

What really got me annoyed was John Barnes' comments after the game when he said that he needs to be learn to deal with players trying to foul him. He said it like he was a new player on the block and just broke into the first team. I'm sorry John but you spurt absolute rubbish. He has learnt to deal with it, his temperament is much better now. But if you are fouled cynically and the ref fails to protect you then what else are you supposed to do!

To be fair, if he was an opposition player, wouldn't you want our defenders to 'stop him playing'..... Every team identifies the opposing sides most dangerous player and targets him. Wilf gets fouled more because he takes on more players than anyone else. If he gets past 2, the third one is going to clobber him. Not going to stop that, and the more we, and the manager whinge about it, the worst it will get....

I forget who, but a ref gave Man Utd a team warning for the endless booting of Hazard: the next player to do it would get a yellow. The next player - almost immediately after the warning - was Lindgard who was already on a yellow, so off he duly went. Man Utd are masters at rotating fouls through the team; it won them the FA Cup, FFS! They get away with it because referees rarely issue them the team warning...and because they're Man Utd. I hope the management at Palace keep up the pressure on league officials. I'd make a "highlight" reel each week of the assaults on Wilf and send it in for review. We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |
